KRISTA ANNE STOBART (nee SCOTT) It is with profound sadness that we announce that Krista Stobart passed away peacefully on April 11, 2016 at the age of 35. Her home was filled with family and friends in the final moments of her life. She will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her husband and soulmate Andrew, who had a caring relationship with Krista for eight years and was holding her hand as she took her final breath. She will be greatly missed by her two children, Adalyn and Corvin, who mommy loved with all her heart. Krista will be dearly missed by her parents Gavin and Beverly; her sister Megan (Paddy) and brother Ian (Landon). Krista was excited to meet her soon-to-be-born nephews but sadly did not have the chance. She leaves to mourn her grandma Jean and was predeceased by her granddad Bill and maternal grandparents Fred and June. She will be missed by her in-laws Jack, Gail, Mark (Lori), Nicole (Robin) and countless other family and friends. Krista was born on June 24, 1980 in Calgary and she grew up in Winnipeg. Krista became an independent and confident woman who cared deeply about her family and community. A hardworking, brilliant and exceptional student, Krista graduated at the top of her class at Kelvin High School and received a full scholarship to McGill University. She later completed a Master of Forest Conservation degree at the U of T while receiving several accolades. At 22, Krista became the executive director of the Manitoba chapter of the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society. She later worked for the Centre for Indigenous Environmental Resources and Parks Canada where she completed a staggering amount of projects in a few short years. Krista developed a keen sense of adventure from travelling and camping with her family. As an adult, she visited Kenya, Senegal, South Asia, Australia, Tasmania and Scotland. She loved cooking, reading and spending time outdoors. In 2008, Krista met Andrew and they were married on May 22, 2010. Kris loved Andrew and knew how much he and the kids loved her. She gave so much of herself to her family and friends and provided valuable life lessons to everyone around her. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, April 22, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Thomson in Park at 1291 McGillvray Blvd. The family would like to thank CancerCare Manitoba (CCMB), the palliative care team, hospital staff at HSC and many other providers who gave exemplary care. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the CCMB Foundation. The family is also accepting contributions to an education fund for her children. If you knew Krista, you are invited to write a story about how she touched your life. These stories can be given to Andrew who will share them with the kids. Dearest Krista, thank you for enriching our world.

Condolences & Memories (7 entries)

  • Krista is fondly remembered by many of our faculty members and alumni. She was a gifted and passionate scholar. Our deepest sympathy to her family. - Posted by: Faculty of Forestry, University of Toronto () on: May 04, 2016

  • I went to elementary, junior high, and high school with Krista although I admit we were not close friends. I have memories of her being a kind, friendly, and bright girl. When I discussed her regretful passing with my husband, who also attended River Heights and Kelvin, and we discussed how brilliant we both recall her being, his comment was "She was the only one to beat my grade 9 science project (which was a jet engine)." I thought it was an apt recollection. Heartfelt sympathy to all who were close to her. - Posted by: Amy () on: Apr 22, 2016

  • I met Krista about 20 years ago when she was a student, she worked for me at the bakery for few years and was a great worker. Always looking to find something to do, very talented and was a great teenager, very polite and customers were very happy to be served by Krista She will be deeply missed . Sincere condolences to the family. - Posted by: Eric Bari (Former employer) on: Apr 22, 2016

  • I taught piano and theory to Andrew for several years. I was so happy when I heard Andrew grew up, got married to Krista and subsequently had their children, Adalyn and Corvin. My husband Marc, my mother Marilyn, and I send our deepest sympathy to all of you. Sincerely, Lorilee Glenat (Voetberg) - Posted by: Lorilee & Marc Glenat () on: Apr 18, 2016

  • I met Krista only once around 1995 or 1996, when the Scott family visited us in Waterford, Ontario. Bev always kept us up to date with the comings & goings of her brood, through her very newsy and informative annual Christmas letters. Krista was a very accomplished young lady, who really made amark on the world in the time given to her. Sincere sympathies and love to Bev, Gavin, Andrew, Megan, Ian and the extended family, at this very sad time - Posted by: KAREN DANIEL (friend of the Scott family) on: Apr 18, 2016

  • I remember working with Krista in her CPAWS office putting together a DVD presentation about the Manitoba Lowlands. We each had our laptops going, copying the photo/video collection on a stack of disks. I will always cherish the opportunity to work with Krista, she was delightful and very kind! I will miss you dear - Posted by: Michael Pettitt (Friend) on: Apr 17, 2016
