Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGEERTRUDA (GERDA) ANNA VERBONG Gerda passed away on April 24, 2016 at the Riverview Health Centre. She was born July 25, 1941 in Grubbenvorst, Limburg Netherlands. Gerda and most of her family immigrated to Canada in 1952. Gerda is survived by her daughter Eileen Choy; brother Peter Verbong (Gloria); and sisters, Elisabeth Smedts, Mary VanAert; and sisters-in-law, Alice Verbong and Judith Verbong, also numerous nieces and nephews. Gerda was predeceased by her parents, Greta and William; brothers, Gerry, George, John; sisters-in-law, Gertruda and Jean; and brothers-in-law, Jake Smedts and Jack VanAert. The family would like to thank the staff of 3E Riverview for Gerda's wonderful care over the last month. A Celebration of Life will take place on Friday, April 29, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Eternal Grace Funeral Home, 1111 Logan Ave. at McPhillips Street, with interment to follow at Transcona Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the 3 East Palliative Care Unit at Riverview Health Centre, One Morley Ave., Winnipeg, Manitoba R3L 2P4, would be greatly appreciated. I was very saddened to open the paper and read about Gerda's passing. I had the pleasure of working with her years ago at Woolco. Gerda was very warm, caring, funny and a pleasure to be with. She will not be forgotten and there always will be a smile on my face whenever I think of her!
