EDWARD (TED) SAMUEL KITCHING November 7, 1922 - October 13, 2016 With his beloved family by his side, our dear husband, father and grandfather passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at the age of 93 years. Left behind to celebrate Ted's life are his wife of 64 years of marriage, Lorene; sons, Calvin, Terry (Karen) and Larry (Terry); and grandchildren, Melissa, Derek, Katie, Amy, and Kevin. He also leaves his brother, Ralph (Ruthann); sisters, Pearl Cooper and Bernice (Archie) Gill; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Ida and William; an infant son, Lesley; sisters, Opal Scott and Linda McAdam; brothers, Harold, Allan, Oliver and Earl; sisters-in-law, Mary and Eileen Kitching; and brothers-in-law George Scott, Brian Cooper and George McAdam. On November 7, 1922 Ted was born in Roland, Manitoba. Growing up on his family farm, he acquired a strong work ethic and he took care and pride in anything he attempted. Ted was especially proud in what he could accomplish with his team of horses. In 1950, Ted started his career as a plumber, and he retired in 1987. In 1952, he married Lorene Bonner and they lived in St. Vital, later moving to Woodhaven in 1955. Ted was passionate about hockey. He played for many years and coached minor hockey. He also enjoyed skating, curling and horseshoes. Ted was also an excellent gardener, winning many prizes with the St. James Horticulture Society. Family was the center of Ted's happiness and he will be deeply missed. Ted's Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 21, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Sturgeon Creek United Church, 207 Thompson Drive, Winnipeg. Interment will follow at a later date. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3E 0V9, or the charity of one's choice.
