LLOYD STANLEY WALKER Following a brief illness, Lloyd Stanley Walker died on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba at the age of 76 years. Lloyd was diagnosed in late May 2016 with cancer of the bladder. Remaining to forever cherish Lloyd's memory are his three daughters, Kim, Lynn (Tony) and Verity (Rod); as well as his grandchildren, Taylor, Davis and Kennedy. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Georgette in 2007 and his daughter Cynthia who died at the age of 33 years. On June 24, 1940 Lloyd was born in Georgetown, Prince Edward Island where he lived with his parents, Spurgeon and Irene Walker and siblings, Peggy, Carol and Kenny In the late 1950s Lloyd joined the Royal Canadian Artillery and he served with Z Battery. Postings included but were not limited to, two tours in Germany, CFB Gagetown and CFB Shilo. In 1992 his family was posted to Winnipeg where he retired from the Canadian Forces Recruiting Centre as Sergeant. We will always remember Lloyd for his sense of humor, his long drives across Canada to visit family, his loyalty to the Chicago Blackhawks and how he took full credit for his fashion sense: a pair of sweat pants, old t-shirt, accompanied by socks, sandals and a fanny pack. I was lucky enough to have worked with Lloyd for a few years at the Assiniboine Golf Course back in the early 2000's. He was truly a unique character. Always smiling, always joking, always muttering with his indecipherable eastern accent. He would outwork kids a third of his age. I just now heard of his passing, and I regret missing out on his service. But I'm glad to see so many people who appreciated him as we did. Nothing but good memories of my old friend Lloyd. My best to the family and friends he left behind. I won't forget him. - Posted by: Chris Warnock (Former coworker and friend) on: Jun 03, 2021

Lloyd was our wonderful neighbor across the street. Our family is saddened to only recently hear of his passing, we wish we would have been able to attend the service. He was so kind to us and would always say hi and wave, even after we ribbed him about the Blackhawks jersey he often had hanging in the window. We will miss him and remember him fondly. - Posted by: Holly Mat Isla and Vaux (Neighbours) on: Jan 27, 2017

Met Lloyd when he moved his daughter Kim into the house next to ours. From that day on he held a special place in our hearts and always will. Dear Kim, Lynn & Verity and families, Please accept my sincere condolences on the passing of your father, Lloyd and I served together in Germany in the 80s. Your dad was great for morale and always had a smile on his face and never said a bad word about anybody. I stopped by your dad's place a few years ago on my way through Winnipeg and even after retirement he was the same guy I had know in the service. He was such a Chicago fan he had this Black Hawk flag draped over the couch. Rest in peace my friend you will be missed. Tom Tomaso - Posted by: Tom Tomaso (Friend) on: Oct 29, 2016
