ALVYN JAMES RAMPTON January 25, 1945 - December 8, 2016 At Riverview Health Centre on Thursday, December 8, 2016, at the age of 71 years, Alvyn passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. Al was our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. He leaves behind his devoted wife Judy, who has been unfailingly by his side through every step of this difficult journey. Also left to mourn his passing are his daughter Marni; grandchildren, Anthony (Kacee), Avery (Danica) and Alexandria; great-grandchildren, Evander and Mya; sister Corinne Burleigh (Vince); niece Sharlene (Domenick) and nephew Brent. He was predeceased by his mother, Joyce Gardner and his father, Clive Rampton. There are many other relatives and good friends who will miss Alvyn's sharp wit, charm and dry sense of humour. He made friends easily and kept them for life. Al's career evolved to becoming an Air Ambulance Pilot for the Manitoba Lifeflight Air Ambulance Service. After retirement, he continued to contribute his expertise to the Manitoba Government Air Ambulance Service and was also involved with Keewatin Air, performing both check rides and operational management. Al loved airplanes and flying and couldn't quite separate himself from the industry even after retirement. He also loved to golf, loved to play poker, thoroughly enjoyed his winters in Texas and zealously took on new projects whenever his interest in something new was peaked. After retirement, Al took up cooking and baking, and as was his habit, perfected both new tasks. He was a whiz at computers and all new technology and had those interests swiftly mastered as well. He was a member and on the Executive of the Manitoba Senior Men's Golf League. A Memorial Service for Al will be announced at a later date. Our thanks to Al's family doctor, Dr. Roche, to the doctors, nurses and other staff at Cancer Care and to Dr. Bruce Martin and the nurses from the Palliative Care Home Services. Special thanks to Dr. Crow and the nurses and staff at Riverview Health Centre, Palliative Care division. Our gratitude to all of Al's relatives and friends who offered him so much love and support in his final months. Special thanks to cousins Shelley and Clare for all the time and effort they put in to help Alvyn and Judy complete the tasks that were critically important to them. Also, our deepest gratitude to their neighbours, Jayne and Gerry, who have been a tower of strength and support to Al and Judy throughout this entire ordeal. You all have made the whole process of departing so much easier to bear. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to Cancer Care Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB, R3E 0V9.
