Date of Passing: Dec 16, 2016
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJEAN SHORE FULLER (nee KOWAL) April 18, 1923 - December 16, 2016 Peacefully, with her devoted family by her side, Jean passed away at Vista Park Lodge. She will be sorely missed by her loving sons, Edward (Kinnon) and Robert (June); stepson Brian (Agatha); as well as her grandchildren, Kyla, Derrick, Grant and Jaeden, and her great-granddaughter Scarlett. Jean was predeceased by her devoted husband Bernard Fuller; her loving first husband Frank Shore; her twin sister Mary; and her brother Melvin. She will be lovingly remembered by her siblings, Emily, Olga, and John (Valentina). Jean was born in Rivers, Manitoba and grew up in the Oakburn area. As a young woman, she moved to Winnipeg at eighteen years old with five dollars in her pocket. There she met and married Frank, and they were blessed with twin sons. Fiercely independent, she quickly displayed her business acumen and ethic for hard work by opening and operating restaurant and hotel businesses stretching across three provinces. Her hands were never idle. She lived to serve others. Her biggest joy was cooking, especially for her family. She and her husband Bernie were avid gardeners, and Jean loved to can preserves for her family to use all year long. She was an extremely stylish woman, always dressed to the nines and never a hair out of place. Jean had an adventurous spirit, and spent many years traveling, especially enjoying her winter vacations to warm climates, as well as many fun Saturday afternoons with her sister Olga at the casino. A very sociable individual, she had many friends, and easily connected to those around her - never more so than when she and Bernie moved to Agape Villa, where they lived for a number of years. Jean was generous in every aspect of her life - always there for her family. A testament to this is the many journals that she left which chronicled her family's history. You can see her pride in each page, as she introduced each grandchild and wrote about the family's growth. The recent birth of her great-granddaughter brought so much joy to her last few months, and she was elated to know that her Ukrainian heritage would be preserved! The family would like to thank the staff at Vista Park Lodge for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Humane Society of Manitoba. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Jean's life will be held on Thursday, December 29 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. Interment to follow.
