Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • I had the pleasure of serving as a constable with Bob in St James. And was there when he became a Sergeant. A good man, a strict Sergeant, but was always amiable and friendly with fellow officers. In the late 60's, the Chief George Maltby was an Englishman, I am an Englishman, our traffic Sgt was an Englishman and there were two other constables that were also English. In the lunchroom one day I was reading a letter from my brother (in the U.K.) and happened to say "My brother is thinking of coming over" (for a holiday) and Bob said "Oh that's all we need is another- - - - -limey". I think he thought I was going to sponsor my brother to join the department!! All those in the lunch room had a good laugh, which we were able to do back then, without any fear of discrimination or political correctness. Bob will be missed. May he rest in Peace. My sympathy and condolences to the family. Moe. Butler. - Posted by: Maurice (Moe) Butler (Former St James Police Officer) on: Feb 11, 2017

  • So sorry for your loss. We will miss Bob as we do Hazel. They, together, were the firm base of the neighbourhood and we could always count on Bob for the "best" joke of the day. Our thoughts and love are with you. - Posted by: Russell and Heather Patterson (Neighbour) on: Feb 11, 2017
