DAVID ANTHONY WARDELL
Date of Passing: Feb 16, 2017
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDAVID ANTHONY WARDELL Peacefully, after a lengthy illness with COPD, it is with profound sadness we announce the death of David Wardell on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at the age of 63 years. Left to mourn Dave's memory are his wife Marilyn; siblings Janice, Jeff, Don, and Ken, their spouses and families; Australian family, Marilyn's siblings and families, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents Ken and Daphne, and beloved companions Puff and Powder. Dave grew up in Winnipeg. He lived briefly in Greenwood, NS with his family and then returned to Winnipeg where he completed his education. Dave worked for many years as an automotive service technician before changing careers to work with computers. He was always able to lend a helping hand to repair friends and families' vehicles, computers and help with home renos. Dave enjoyed Sci-Fi, reading, fishing, golfing, home renos, cooking, guitar, baking (his apple pie and rhubarb strawberry crisp especially), Sudoku, and travelling to British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, the Maritimes, east coast of the USA, Australia and Ontario. A Celebration of Dave's Life will be held Friday, February 24, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. in St. Paul the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 2400 Portage Avenue. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Manitoba Lung Association (204-774-5501) would be appreciated. When you can't breathe, nothing else matters. Please ask that the donations are for now placed in the "Dave Wardell" fund. We will be looking to create a special bursary in Dave's name to help train more clinicians in advanced respiratory care in order to improve care for patients like Dave across Manitoba. I had the pleasure to work with Dave and hopefully was a friend to Dave. If you needed a hand , Dave was there for you. He had a dry sense of humour that could catch you off guard. But he always let you know by giving you that sly grin. I will miss Dave as a computer friend , as a phone call out of the blue but mostly as a friend. I will think of him often. - Posted by: Ernie Rehberg (Friend) on: Feb 23, 2017
