CHARLES (CHARLIE) LAURENCE PERKINS April 28, 1939 March 10, 2017 With great sadness, we announce the passing of Charlie on Friday, March 10, 2017. He is survived and mourned by his long-time partner Arlene; stepson Ryan (Shannon) and his sister Margaret Perkins. He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Mary Perkins, as well as his wife Dawn, in 1989. Charlie was a well-known and respected member of the Insurance Industry for over 50 years. He was an avid curler, as well as an enthusiastic hunter and fisherman. (That being said, the geese really had nothing to worry about). His greatest passion however, was being involved in the training of his retriever dogs. Charlie spent many happy hours with his beloved "labs", his various training partners and "trialing" friends. He thoroughly enjoyed the spirited competitiveness of the Field Trail Competitions. To this end, Charlie was a Lifetime Member of the Manitoba Gun Dog Association, a member of the Delta Marsh Retriever Club and the Brandon Retriever Club. A celebration of a life well lived will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, should you wish, donations may be made to the M.G.D.A., in care of 4 MacIntosh Road, Headingley, MB R4H 1G2 or an Animal Rescue Shelter of your choice. Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Wow what a shock: Last time I saw Charlie he came to where I was working and was advising me about who to contact about sending in new business. What I remember most is his love for his beer making system and at work numerous days of taking the dogs for a walk out the back of the office. Sorry I didn't respond earlier Arlene just found out. - Posted by: Erl Harris (former co worker) on: Nov 27, 2017

  • Sorry to hear of your loss Arlene, thinking of you at this sad time. - Posted by: Wendy Wallis ((cousin)) on: Mar 22, 2017

  • We wish to extend our deepest sympathy to you, Arlene, Ryan and Shannon, at the passing of Charlie. As former next-door neighbours, we recall the many chats and laughs we had over the backyard fence--in fact, the fence Charlie and I built. May the many memories you have of Charlie be your strength during this difficult time and always. Our love, Irv and Cathie Hiller - Posted by: Irv and Cathie Hiller (Friends) on: Mar 18, 2017
