Date of Passing: Mar 22, 2017
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELIZABETH (BETTY) LUTZ (nee GREIG) October 24, 1927 - March 22, 2017 After a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer's Betty passed away in her sleep, at Vista Park Lodge, on Wednesday, March 22, 2017. Betty will be greatly missed by her daughter Diane (Dale) Neuls; grandchildren Dale (Sarah), Misty, Whitney and Shayne; daughter-in-law Beth; niece Joyce Okrainec (Becky, Marshall); nephew Rob (Cindy) Johnstone (Brian). She will also be missed by extended family Karen (Bill) Macauley (Eireann, Shaun, Lee, Laine); Jamie Neuls (Bailey, Brandon); Jeff (Michelle) Neuls (Saydee, Haylee); Jill (Chris) Nagy; Ken Okrainec; Lenneth Gonzales (Frolan, Leonard); Melissa Piper. Betty was predeceased by her husband Jimmy in 1976, son Terry, parents William and Lilian Greig, sister and brother-in-law Fran and Bill Johnstone, and beloved pets Muffin and Skipper. Betty met Jimmy when they both belonged to a 5-pin bowling league and married on September 20, 1952. Betty worked for the Province of Manitoba Department of Agriculture until her retirement in 1987. Her favourite pastimes were watching TV, knitting and travelling. Betty shared a special relationship with her grandson Dale, as grandma's house was a second home. They would often put in "all nighters" watching movies or just talking about life. Betty will be most remembered for her robust laugh (you always laughed just listening to her laugh), happy disposition and generous heart. She loved to have visitors, was called "Mom" by Diane's friends, and everyone was always welcome at her house. We will love and miss her forever. The family would like to send out a special thank you to the staff of Vista Park Lodge for her care during the last six years. Mom loved animals so, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to an animal rescue of your choice. A celebration of Betty's life will take place on Friday, May 26 at 2:00 p.m. at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd., Winnipeg. THOMSON FUNERAL HOME 669 BROADWAY, WINNIPEG, MB R3C 0X4 204-783-7211 Condolences may be sent to www.thomsonfuneralchapel.com

Deepest Condolences to Diane, Dale and Dale Betty was a "Mom" to us all as we frequented Diane's house on the way to and from high school. Always remember the ham sandwiches and coleslaw dressing - YUM! Years later I became friends again with Betty when I delivered her Avon. We would have little visits after I jumped the fence at her main floor apartment on Alpine lol. Will miss her unique laugh and cheery disposition.
