Born: Sep 05, 1936
Date of Passing: May 12, 2017
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARIANNE FALKENBERG (nee KORDASS) Peacefully, on Friday, May 12, 2017, at the age of 80, Marianne passed away with family by her side. She was predeceased by her first husband, Kurt Falkenberg and second husband, Horst Friedrich. She is survived by her loving children and their families; son Ralph (Judy) Falkenberg, daughter Ines (Juan) Barbachano and children, Bosco and Carina, son Allan (Theresa) and Kurtis, daughter Janet (Gerry) Sul and children, Matthew (Nicole), Lucas (Valentina - Sara and Maria) and Robin. A small, private funeral service was held May 17, 2017 and she was laid to rest at Arnes Cemetery by pallbearers: Allan Falkenberg, Matthew Horn, Kurtis Falkenberg, Lucas Horn, Janet Sul and Gerry Sul. Marianne was born in Wattenscheid, Germany on September 5, 1936, where she lived with her parents, Rudolf and Elisabeth Kordass, and nine brothers and sisters. She was fondly known as "Number 8". In 1958, she moved from Germany to Winnipeg, and then later to Overflowing River, Manitoba where her family ran a successful business with a service station, restaurant and gift shop, with all lending a helping hand. Moving back to Winnipeg, Marianne enjoyed her times with friends at the German Club and eventually moved to Camp Neustadt where many of them eventually migrated for good friendship and to share their common interests. To get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, in the winter months she was off to Cozumel, Mexico to spend quality time with her daughter Ines at their resort, where she kept an eye on the staff, keeping them in line, while sipping on her favourite drink, the Cadillac Martini. Many thanks to the City of Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service and Emergency Team at the St. Boniface Hospital for their support. Her fire and sense of humour will be sadly missed by her family and those who knew her. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cupcakes Pommy and Friends Rescue Shelter.
