DEBRA CHORNEY August 3, 1957 - May 13, 2017 Debbie peacefully passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2017, at sunset, while holding hands with her children. She was predeceased by her parents, Nick and Olga (nee Beres) Chorney. She is survived by her children, Alan and Lena Chorney. Her early years were spent in Northwestern Ontario. As a child she moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba where she lived until she completed her teaching degree. Much of her teaching career was spent in Northern Manitoba, including many years in The Pas while she raised her two children. Later in life she enjoyed working for the Manitoba Association of Rights and Liberties and volunteering at Klinic Community Health. She also enjoyed spending time at St. Benedicts Retreat & Conference Centre, where she regularly participated in a centering prayer group. Debbie enjoyed swimming, especially outdoors; camping with a tent and an open fire; reading and journaling; exploring the many facets of her spirituality; and spending time with her family.
