Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN ZIEMANSKI John Ziemanski, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at Steinbach Bethesda Hospital on May 9, 2017, with loved ones by his side. He was born January 27, 1931 to Joseph and Pearl Ziemianski at Winnipegosis, MB. He was predeceased by his parents, sister Ann and brother-in-law Bill, brother Michael, and niece Mary. He is survived by his wife Eva, daughters Lori (Grant) and Dawn (Don), sons Greg (Pam) and Jeff (Donna), grandchildren Jordan (Trudy), Clayton [who shared a birthday] (Leslie) Cody, Dustin, Ashley and Danielle, great-grandchildren Eva Johanna and Bowen, goddaughter Janet Motz, and niece and nephews. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren lovingly knew him as "Papa John". John was a dedicated employee of Manitoba Natural Resources, Fisheries Branch, for 41 years at Dauphin River, Clear Water Lake, God's River and mostly at the Whiteshell Trout Hatchery near West Hawk Lake. He loved sports and fitness, and was passionate about the outdoors, spending time swimming, running, cycling, camping, canoeing, playing baseball, cross country skiing and of course his greatest passion -curling. He volunteered at the Whiteshell Curling Club in many capacities: most notably as ice maker, which he took on with his usual enthusiasm - always striving for perfection. John approached all his activities with dedication and unbridled enthusiasm, always looking for ways to improve. We all remember him ironing his cross-country skis; throwing a baseball against the barn wall; throwing his homemade "rock" down the hallway at home and then hundreds of real practice rocks at the rink. His love of the outdoors included his love for animals and they seemed to be equally drawn to him. Birds, deer and squirrels somehow knew there would be a treat and a "hey little buddy" whenever they visited his yard. Dad, Papa John, John, Johnny you will be forever missed but never forgotten. We would like to say a special thank you to the staff at Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach for your care and compassion. You made a difficult time a little easier A celebration of John's life will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2:00 p.m., at West Hawk United Church, West Hawk Lake followed by refreshments at the Whiteshell Community Club, Falcon Lake. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to West Hawk United Church or Whiteshell Community Club, Falcon Lake.

Johnny, you were always a great friend and our mentor. You were there when we had questions about the community club and gym while we were custodians. We will never forget you and you will be in our hearts forever. Now you will be able to have Kutia whenever you want and not have to wait for me to bring it to you. You left so many memories not only with your family but with all your friends and neighbors at Falcon Lake and West Hawk Lake. We will miss you. R.I.P our dear friend. God only takes the best! - Posted by: John and Patt Louchuk (friends) on: May 22, 2017
