  • To Charlie's family I send my condolences.I met Charlie through a mutual friend of ours.We were embarking on a road trip from Manitoba to his winter home in New Port Richey,Florida. He was introduced to me in my driveway by our mutual friend Dennis,on an early winter morning. As we pulled out to start our journey he offered me a warm, strong handshake, saying"pleasure is all mine to meet you,I now have another friend". Over 2300 miles and 3 days we shared stories of each other's life's experiences, and plenty of laughs as well. Throughout my stay for a few days at his place,I was treated to his genuine and warm hospitality. So much so,that I returned to visit him down there in later years. He would say"I'll be waiting for you,and if it's late,I'll leave the outside light on,just walk in and you know where the guest room is" Good bye old friend!I know you'll have the outside light on for me when we meet again. • We lived across the street from Charlie and Merle for over 10 years... We saw Charlie busy. busy in his yard, looking after his garden and mowing his grass. We enjoyed the rhubarb that Charlie gave us. Always a greeting as we were on our way to the beach. We sold our cottage last fall. and knew we would miss our neighbors, and now Ponemah will miss Charlie. - Posted by: George and Pat Moore (Neighbors in Ponemah, Mb/) on: May 20, 2017

  • Dear Zientek family, My sincere condolences about the loss of Charlie. I am married to one of Merle's grandaughters, Jessica. I wanted to tell you what a great deal Charlie meant to us. He was such a kind soul, who we all loved dearly. Jessica (Jay) and her sister Lindsay (Steph) both thought of Charlie as their grandpa and loved him like one. I had the pleasure of meeting Charlie 13 yrs ago and spent many times with him and Merle at the cabin in Winnipeg Beach. I enjoyed his company as we would golf together or simply watch sports on the tv. Charlie was always quick to offer me a beer whenever I visited, and always made me feel like one of the family. I was even fortunate to visit him and Merle at there Florida home a couple times. Lindsay and Jessica were extremely heartbroken to find out Charlie had passed and unbeknowst to them was In the hospital. Both Jessica and Lindsay would've loved to have had a chance to say goodbye, and to say thank You to Charlie for all of the wonderful years he was their grandpa. Charlie, you will be missed, Cheers my friend. Our daughter Brooklyn will miss him very much. - Posted by: Jason Miller (Married to granddaughter ) on: May 20, 2017
