MARIA LUISA RODRIGUES TARKO December 11, 1949 - May 16, 2017 It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our loving Luisa at the age of 67. Luisa is survived by her twin sister Isabel Salgueiro (Mario). Also left to mourn her passing is her niece Lisa (Mauro), nephew Rui (Catarina), and nieces, Maria Mira (Fernando) and Elizabeth Trach (Miles). Luisa also leaves behind great-nieces and nephews, Leandro, Layla, Angelina, Alex, and Sabrina; her goddaughters, Teresa and Nancy; and many extended family members and close friends. Luisa was predeceased by her beloved husband Billy, and by her parents, Jose Rodrigues and Maria Pereira Dos Santos, her brothers, Jose Maria, Joao Carlos, and Manuel Luis. Luisa was born in Bugalhos, Portugal and immigrated to Canada with her twin sister on July 23, 1972; a few years later she became a Canadian citizen. Luisa married her one and only love of her life Billy on October 12, 1996, and they spent every waking moment together until his passing, and now they can be together again. A prayer vigil will be held on Monday, May 22, 2017, at 7:00 p.m., in the Gilbart Funeral Home, 309 Eveline St., Selkirk, Manitoba. The funeral liturgy will be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at 11:00 a.m., in Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Parish, Church Bay Lane, at Winnipeg Beach, with burial to follow at the Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Avenue. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Luisa's memory may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation or CancerCare Manitoba.
