FRANCIS (FRANK) PHILPOTT Peacefully, with his family at his side, Frank passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at The Johnson Memorial Hospital in Gimli, Manitoba at the age of 91. He will be lovingly remembered by his partner Shirley Trann, his son Dennis; grandchildren, Jay (Stevie), Ian (Kamara) and Jon (Kristie), his daughter Karen (Ron Stoesz); grandchildren, Alison (Reid MacKenzie), Melissa, (Jason Travis) and Kailey (Ryan Dyck), his son Randy; and 11 great-grandchildren. Frank was predeceased by his wife Norma (1990), his son Alan (2000), his parents, Eric (1982) and Mabel (1965), his brothers, Dudley (1979), Albert (2000) and Henry (2007) and his sister Mabel (2011). Frank was born January 30, 1926 in Teulon, MB. He served in the Second World War with the Royal Winnipeg Rifles in Europe and remained a member of the Legion both in Winnipeg and in Gimli, Manitoba. Following the war, Dad returned to his position working with Eatons, and after 47 years of service, he retired in August of 1990. Following retirement, Frank moved to Aspen Park, just outside of Gimli, where he enjoyed the outdoors and spent much of his time boating and camping with family and friends and working in his yard. Ill health forced him to move into Gimli in the spring of 2016. The family would like to thank the wonderful women from home care who took care of him for the last year. The care and attention he received from them brightened every day for him. We would also like to thank all the staff at the Johnson Memorial Hospital who were involved with him for their compassionate care. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made in Dad's name to the Sandra Schmirler Foundation. Dad requested no service. Cremation has taken place and a private burial of ashes is planned. • I've known and respected Frank for about 11 years. I worked with he and Shirley each spring and thoroughly enjoyed our annual visits. When Shirley's health no longer permitted her to attend, Frank continued to do what was required for the two of them. I will always remember him. - Posted by: Ron Tole (Business friend) on: Jun 24, 2017

  • I will miss Frank, he was a total gentleman and always appreciated everything. - Posted by: Angela Huebner (Friend ) on: Jun 24, 2017
