GLADYS MARY WILLIM (nee SMART) We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our mom, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister and friend on Sunday, June 25, 2017, surrounded by her family. She is survived by eight children, over 30 grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her sister Dorothy. She was predeceased by her husband Alex, two children and four siblings. Mom was proud of her Irish heritage. She grew up in the Brooklands area of Winnipeg. Mom worked at #2 Air Command prior to marrying the love of her life, Alex. The rest of her career was spent raising her family and enjoying time at the cottage at Ingolf, Ontario with family and friends. Our family was always surrounded by numerous pets including dogs, cats, mice, pigeons, budgies and even a muskrat. This love of animals and the love of the natural environment was adopted by us. She was a pioneer at recycling, always being conscious of environmental waste. Mom went to great lengths to make every special occasion a celebration. We have kept up these many traditions with love and fond memories. She was very artistic. She was an accomplished seamstress, sewing a number of wedding dresses, many bridesmaid's dresses, costumes and curtains and mending for the family. She was a gardener and had many hobbies. The house was always full and there was always room for one more. Mom and Dad took in a number of children to give them a vacation experience down at the cottage. Mom and Dad enjoyed their numerous vacations to Mexico with family and friends. Funeral service will take place on Thursday, June 29, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn, 4000 Portage Avenue, with interment and reception to follow. Memorial donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, The Nature Conservancy of Canada or a charity of your choice. Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 204-885-9715

So sorry to hear of your dear mother's passing. We will always remember Glady's geniune warmth & kindness - how she would always enjoy venturing across the backlane to spoil our dogs Nikko 1 & 2 with her generous amounts of their favorite biscuits. Our deepest sympathy & condolences to the Willim family, Irene & Terry Spooner (neighbors for 39 yrs.) - Posted by: Irene & Terry Spooner () on: Jun 27, 2017
