VERNE LOZINSKI It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Verne Lozinski on Friday, June 23, 2017. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Betty, daughter Susan (Garry), grandchildren, Everett, Madison and Caitlyn, brothers, Tony and Ray Lozinski, and sister Sylvia Leonard, as well as the many nieces and nephews who loved their "Uncle Butch". Verne was born on July 7, 1937, in Cudworth, Saskatchewan to Theresa (Smudy / Zmud) and Peter Lozinski. The family moved to Dauphin, Manitoba about 1946. Verne later moved to Winnipeg after completing grade 12, where he began working for C.N. He later dedicated his working life to the Manitoba Telephone System where he retired as a manager after 32 years of service in 1993. He met the love of his life Betty, in 1967, and they married on April 20, 1968. Most who knew Verne, knew what an avid artist he was of both oil paint and charcoal sketching, spending much time at the Artist Emporium. Verne loved curling, golf and watching sports, especially his beloved Minnesota Vikings. Verne was a wildlife and animal lover, especially of dogs, and could be seen frequently walking his dog Rocky. A special thank you to the doctors, especially Dr. Clendenan, and nursing staff at Concordia Hospital for their care and keeping Verne comfortable in his last days. Also thank you to Dr. Leylek and Dr. Pathak of CancerCare for their kindness and compassion. In keeping with Verne's wishes there will not be a funeral. A private Celebration of Life will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society or the Wildlife Haven Rehabilitation Centre. "I heard your voice in the wind today and I turned to see your face, the warmth of the wind caressed me as I stood silently in place. I felt your touch in the sun today, as its warmth filled the sky. I closed my eyes for your embrace and my spirit soared high. I saw your eyes in the window pane as I watched the falling rain. It seemed as each raindrop fell it quietly said your name. I held you close in my heart today, it made me feel complete. You may have died, but you are not gone, you will always be a part of me." Grandpa, we will carry your memoryin our hearts forever

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • Verne & Betty & Susan lived across the street from us on Laxdal Road in Winnipeg during the 1970s when I was a teenager. I loved having them as neighbours and really appreciated and have always remembered Verne's sense of humour. I found out just now that Verne had passed away because I was searching for his email address on the Internet. Very sad news. Last time I saw all three of them was at our wedding in 1984. Betty, if you see this please email me at ferris AT telus.net. I think you would like to see what I was going to email to him. - Posted by: Kevin Ferris (Friend/Neighbour) on: Aug 04, 2017

  • I am so very sorry for your loss. I have memories of Uncle Verne as a child when everyone would get together at the Nunn farm. He had quite a sense of humour. I hope your memories bring you comfort. - Posted by: Bronwyn Swanson ( Brenda) () on: Jul 03, 2017

  • Went to Bay Center School with Verne, sorry to hear of his passing. - Posted by: Ken & Cloella Jacobs () on: Jul 03, 2017

  • I met Verne in May 1975 while working as a student programmer at MTS. He was a great mentor and teacher and guided my very first professional programming efforts. Though I haven't programmed in many years, I often think of him and the patience he showed me, particularly when I am working with new colleagues. I will continue to do that. I am very sorry for your loss. - Posted by: Neil Williams (Worked with Verne @ MTS 1975-1980) on: Jul 02, 2017
