Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOYCE MANN February 9, 1920 - July 5, 2017 With her family by her side, in her 97th year, our beloved mother Joyce Mann passed away. Left to mourn her passing are her children: daughters Linda (Gary) and Barbara (Harvey), son Marshall (Lisa), grandchildren, Tim (Deb), Candace (Bruce), Kendra (Trevor), Kerry, Steven, Derek (Tracy), Michael and Melissa, stepgrandchildren, Jennifer (Stephen) and Derick (Denise), great-grandchildren Kayla, Nickolas, Taylor, Gabriel, Keegan, Ethan, Levi, Bailey, and her last living sibling, brother Ray (Barbara). Joyce was born in Kayville, Saskatchewan to a large family of three brothers and six sisters. She moved to Manitoba in the early 1940s where she met our father Marcel. Once they married she mainly worked inside the home looking after the family, but also had numerous part time jobs to help with expenses. Mom loved children and did lots of babysitting for the neighbourhood. She volunteered her time for various charities: Earl Grey Community Club, Harrow United Church, and Neighbourhood Watch. In 1974 she was awarded a Merit Award from the City of Winnipeg for Leadership and Service to the Community. In 1987 she was awarded "Volunteer of the Year" for service to Earl Grey Community Centre. Joyce's biggest passion, pride and joy were her family. She would do anything for anyone of us and rarely said no when we needed a favour. Joyce loved to spend time with her sisters, and loved to play cards, go to bingo, travel, garden, and watch sports, particularly baseball and curling. She was a wonderful cook making Sunday roast beef dinners with Yorkshire pudding, and loved making perogies, cabbage rolls, apple strudel, homemade soups, French fries and each grandchild's favourite cookies. She always had special goodies for her grandchildren. After selling her home Joyce moved to Lindenwood Manor where she enjoyed living for 14 years. The family would like to thank all the staff at Lindenwood Manor for enriching her life. Last July she moved to Oakview Place where the staff treated her with kindness, dignity and patience. The family would especially like to thank our cousin Diane for visiting our mother weekly during the winter and spring. Diane, you lifted a weight off our shoulders. Should friends so desire, donations in memory of Joyce may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba A graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home. Meet at Chapel Lawn's front entrance. This will be followed by a luncheon. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website. Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 204-885-9715

My heartfelt condolences to cousins Linda, Marshall and Barbara along with to their familes. It all started when we got married in 51 and spent a few days in Winnipeg staying at Aunt Joyce's place (which was the first time we actually got to meet the 'Rotar" girls- my Aunts. I loved the pretty dresses all the cousins in Winnipeg were wearing at that time so she taught me how to smock so I could do that too. As it turned out I had 3 boys before I had a daughter so guess who all wore pretty smocked nighties! My Aunt Joyce was a wonderful and dear favorite in the Reiss family. She would come to Regina often to see her sister -(my mother Jean Roteliuk)- and inevidently landed up at our place for a meal, but more especially to play Canasta - Hand and Foot - or any number of card games! At one time or another all of my mother's sisters (my Aunts Katie-Rose-Erna-Martha-Anne and Joyce and brothers Uncle George-Ray and Walter) did visit with us, but of all of them Aunt Joyce was our special favorite, always lively with a mile on her face and forever ready to pitch in and help out. We had lots of fun times plus some great and memorable visits with her. She led a happy and busy life and was loved by everyone...May she rest in peace. - Posted by: ELSIE REISS (NEICE) on: Jul 15, 2017
