Mr. Dale Swirsky was a teacher at St. Mary's Academy. I asked him his name once and he said it started with a D. 'David?' I say. 'No, but the second letter is an A'. 'Daniel?' 'No.' 'What's the next letter?' 'L.' I didn't know he was spelling 'DALE'. He substituted for our class once and earlier in the day we were watching GREASE. The other girls asked if we could finish watching the movie, and he said 'Yes'. My condolences to Mrs. Karen Swirsky and their darling children Anna & Clark. Your husband and father was a very nice man and a good teacher. My thoughts and prayers are with Karen, Anna, Clark, and the Swirsky and Kernaghan families. No words can alleviate your pain at this time but please know Dale made a great impression on so many lives. Although I have lived away from Winnipeg for several decades, I still have fond memories of Dale at family weddings and get-togethers over the years. May the care and love of those around you provide comfort and peace to get you through today and the days ahead. My most sincere condolences. - Posted by: Tricia Rittaler of Houston (Cousin) on: Jul 13, 2017

My thoughts and prayers are with all over these past number of days. I will always remember Dale for his great smile, his abundant enthusiasm and the passion he brought to life. I recognized this from the early years when he was an assistant manager of his fellow peers on the Grade 10 JV BB and in later years as a teacher and as a coach of his children's basketball teams. He brought many gifts to others who journeyed with him. May you find peace and memories to sustain you as you journey through the days that follow. - Posted by: David Owczar () on: Jul 13, 2017

I first met Dale when he would substitute teach at St. Boniface Diocesan; the students were thrilled because "Clark Kent" was in their midst, and that meant a super day to them. Later we became colleagues at SMA and we quickly became friends across the hall. It was great to share ideas, argue grammar, discuss novels, plan lessons and share family stories. He always spoke so dearly of Karen, Anna and Clark... and the history in family names; his stories and opinions always conveyed his depth of love for all life and for justice in the world. His fantastic smile, big hugs, gregarious giggle and opinions on all subjects will be dearly missed. May your family find strength in the hope and optimism Dale always generated, and may Dale, dear friend, find glorious peace in the promise of our Lord. Deeply saddened to hear of Dale's passing. My sincerest condolences to Karen and family. Dale coached our daughter's basketball team for 2 years. I am still amazed and very thankful for the time and effort Dale and Karen put in teaching the girls the game while at the same time making it fun for them. We have truly lost a great coach and human being far too soon. - Posted by: Stokes Family (Friend) on: Jul 10, 2017

I am very sorry to hear of Dale's sudden passing. He was one of my favorite cousins when growing up and my sisters Leanne and Deborah would agree. I regret I cannot travel from Vancouver to attend his celebration of life, but please know the Chesley and Schatz family is thinking of you and praying for God's peace and comfort to be with you all. - Posted by: Cheryl Schatz (Cousin) on: Jul 09, 2017
