DOUGLAS ALBERT MCCORD With sadness we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather at Lions Gate Hospital on Sunday, July 9, 2017 in his 87th year. He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Betty Lou. Loving father to sons, Jeffrey, Graham and Andrew, and daughter Marianne. Proud Grandpa to Samantha, Cassandra, Morgan, Kiera and Rachel. He was predeceased by his two younger brothers, Keith (Louise), and Brian (Diane). Douglas was born in Swift Current, Saskatchewan, raised in Winnipeg, attended Kelvin High School and the University of Manitoba. He received his MBA from the University of Western Ontario and then began his business career with the Industrial Development Bank in Vancouver. A position with Manitoba Development Corporation prompted a move to Winnipeg where he continued his career until 2005 with the highlight being his time at Richardson Securities in Corporate Finance. He did love golf and treasured his golf friends - belonging to St. Charles Golf and Country Club meant a great deal to him. He was struck by the beauty of the grounds and enjoyed entertaining friends and family there. He also cherished the River Heights PGA fun filled events. In November of 2005, Doug and Betty Lou retired to West Vancouver. He enjoyed good health and loved the view of the ocean from his favourite chair - life was good. He was very happy also to have his granddaughters, Samantha, Morgan, Kiera and Rachel (Jeff's daughters) and Cassandra (Graham's daughter) drop in unexpectedly for a visit. He was a true gentleman and will be remembered for his good humour and genuine warmth. We love you Dougie.
