HILDEGARD KRAUSS It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Hildegard Krauss, aged 90, at the Riverview Health Centre on August 1, 2017. She was predeceased by Paul, her husband of 59 years, and will be lovingly remembered by her children, Janette (Wolfgang), Susi (Norm) and Michael (Maureen). Hildegard was born on June 6, 1927 in Silesia, Germany. She was the daughter of Karl and Elfriede Roesler and grew up in Ratibor with her brothers, Hans and Karl, and her sisters, Steffie, Friedel, Maria and Helga. In 1954 she married Paul and shortly after they immigrated to Winnipeg. She raised her children while supporting Paul in the administration and bookkeeping of his engineering firm, Krauss and Associates. Together they built beautiful homes in the country and in the city. She took great pride in welcoming friends to the house on a wooded lot near St. Genevieve. It was the site of many happy gatherings for birthdays, barbeques and costumed Fashing parties. Their friends admired her horticultural skills, enjoyed being the benefactors of her culinary abilities, and loved her for her great cheer and hospitality. Hilde was a gentle and fun-loving person. She enjoyed her final years with many new friends at the Seine River Retirement Residence. In keeping with her wishes, a private memorial will be held to celebrate Hildegard's life. Donations may be made in her memory to the Riverview Health Centre Foundation.

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • I would personally like to thank Dr. James Butler, Nurse Robert Richardson and all the people at HSC CancerCare Manitoba. The care, concern and treatments given, enabled my Mom exceptional quality of life over the last nine years since her initial diagnosis with thyroid cancer. Your knowledge and expertise were a gift that her family and friends cannot and should never take for granted. Thank you so much. - Posted by: Janette Krauss (Daughter) on: Aug 11, 2017

  • On behalf of the Legal family we offer you our most sincere condolences. It was a pleasure having Paul and Hildegard as neighbors. Gone but not forgotten. God bless you in your time of sorrow. - Posted by: Gilles Legal (Friend and neighbor) on: Aug 08, 2017

  • Our sincere sympathies to the Krauss family. We were saddened to see that Hildegard has passed although she lived a long and good life. We very much enjoyed the friendship of Hildegard & Paul as our neighbors on Brambleforde Crescent for over 15 years, and were sorry to lose Hildegard as our neighbor last year when she transitioned to a senior's residence. She was always a warm friend with good advice about gardening and life in general. Even in her senior years, she remained current, interested and active in so many ways. It was always a pleasure to share her company. She is missed. - Posted by: Wilson & Ingrid Anderson (Neighbours) on: Aug 07, 2017
