GORDON SPRING 1931 - 2017 It is with deep sadness and very fond memories that the family of Gordon announces his passing on August 2, 2017 at the Grace Hospital. Gordon was born January 12, 1931 at Kerrobert, Saskatchewan to Mary and Alexander Spring. He was the eldest of nine children (six boys and three girls). He was predeceased by his wife Alice, brothers, Ralph and Donald, and sister Noreen. Gordon is survived by brothers, Robert (Vernon, BC), Norman (Calgary, AB) and Larry (Calgary, AB), and sisters, Sally (Invermere, BC) and Joan (Pigeon Lake, AB), as well as cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Gordon graduated from Western Canada High School in June of 1949, and was taken on by the RCMP on July 4, 1949. Gordon completed his police training first at Regina, SK then at Ottawa, ON. Upon graduation he was posted to the Province of Saskatchewan. After that he served in the Provinces of British Columbia, Manitoba and Newfoundland. On July 4, 1984, he retired from the RCMP having completed 35 years of service. His last posting was at Winnipeg, Manitoba as the NCO in charge of telecommunications. He was a lifelong member of the D Division (Manitoba) RCMP Veterans' Association. Gordon enjoyed travel with Alice and continued to do so as late as February of this year when he attended a family wedding in Montreal. He looked forward to attending the Flin Flon luncheons, striking it lucky at the casino, visiting with friends and family across the country; and he always remembered the birthdays of the young members of our family. Gordon loved family gatherings and never failed to arrive on time with the infamous pan of puffed wheat cake. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the nurses, doctors and support staff on the 3rd floor of the Grace Hospital for their attentive and loving care. Gordon was also blessed to have the support and care of extended family and friends in Winnipeg. We will all miss you, Gordon! In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Rev. Gene Maximiuk will conduct a funeral service at 10:00 a.m., with viewing beginning at 9:00 a.m, on Thursday, August 10, 2017 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB.
