JEFFREY BRYAN LATER Jeff passed away suddenly on July 26, 2017, at age 39, and we are heartbroken. Survived by three incredibly wonderful children Hailey and Ryan (Carrie) and Emily, (Adrea), brothers Andrew and Steve, and mother Leslie. Jeff leaves each of us with memories of a great father, son, friend and brother. His greatest accomplishment is his children. Shy and gentle by nature he could not subdue his pride and love for each of them. We are so grateful that we have them as a constant memory. The second of four boys, Jeff and his siblings were truly a band of brothers. They were constantly in touch, had an immensely strong bond, and loved to laugh and hang together. Jeff was quiet, but had a great sense of humour and a strong work ethic. He was a good athlete as a youngster, excelling in baseball and hockey, but his real passion was the Green Bay Packers. We all learned to avoid him on football nights during the NFL season and became closet Packer fans hoping for wins and the euphoria that would follow... Jeff was predeceased by his dad Cam in January, and eldest brother Noel in 2014 and he has never stopped missing them. The family would like to send a special thank you to his employer Wood Wyant for their caring and kindness, and to his cousin Robbie Churchill whom he considered more a brother than a cousin. In lieu of flowers, if anyone so desires, donations can be made to a Trust Fund for Jeff's children through any Assiniboine Credit Union using account # 110014750621 or to a charity of one's own choice. A private family memorial will be held at a later date.

  • Dear Leslie, We are so sad to hear about Jeff. We know you have had to endure so much through the past few years and we are so sad for you and your family through all of these tragic events. • What a great guy, such a loving teddy bear and contributor. I was deeply saddened to hear of his death, and will continue to hold you all in my heart. My whole congregation is holding you in the Light. - Posted by: Kathleen Davies "Cousin Kathy" (Cousin) on: Aug 16, 2017

  • I was so sorry to hear about this. Jeff was such a fun person. I and my brother had so many happy memories of hanging around with him and others at the Wildwood Club. Tennis with Jeff was impossible as he would spend the whole time imitating the pros on TV but giving them made-up names (Tim "Mayonnaise" for Tim Mayott, John "Macaroni" for McEnroroe) - he'd say this just before you were about to serve and the whole game would have to stop because he'd have us in such peels of laughter. He was then one of my best friends in Grade 10 in high school. He made every class fun and was faster than anyone else at rushing to the cafeteria in between classes to buy long johns and not get back late. All of our hearts go out to the Laters as you have had an unfair couple of years. But take treasure in knowing that our memories of our lost Laters are always happy ones. - Posted by: Joseph Langan (Friend) on: Aug 15, 2017

  • Leslie, my heart goes out to you. What a sad and difficult walk you have endured over these past years. As a mom, a grandma, a wife, I cannot imagine your pain as you have had to face so many losses. Wishing you strength. Fondly, Judy - Posted by: Judy Kidd (Work friend of Leslie) on: Aug 06, 2017
