WILMA THERESA MCKENZIE September 30, 1919 - August 21, 2017 With sadness we announce our mother, Wilma passed away peacefully, with family beside her, at Concordia Hospital, August 21, 2017. Left to cherish memories are her two daughters Christine and Lorraine (Randy), grandchildren Michelle, Melissa, Katherine (Chad), Melissa (Matthew) and Nathan, eight great-grandchildren, and her brother Harold (Jane). Predeceased by her husband, James, and brothers Albert and Art. Mom raised her family in East Kildonan. She and Dad enjoyed camping in the Whiteshell and Lee River. Mom enjoyed being at home looking after her family and visiting with her friends. She had many talents and we all reaped the benefits of her knitting and sewing accomplishments. Many thanks to her caregiver Janey who was our special angel. The family would like to thank the staff at Concordia. In honour of Mom's wishes, a private gathering will take place. Wilma has truly made a difference in all our lives and will be sadly missed. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your favourite charity.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • What a lovely lady, a pleasure to have known her since 1990. Sincere Sympathy to Lorraine and all the family. - Posted by: june duncanson (friend) on: Aug 28, 2017

  • So sorry to see that your mother Wilma has passed away. It is never easy or the right time. Yes; I certainly remember all the great times with your family at the Whiteshell lake. Those were the good old days. Wilma was such a lady and so kind. She also had a great sense of humour. I can still hear the laughter. She was so loyal and always spoke of her daughters with love. I spoke with her only once in the last four years before we moved to BC. She and my mother Marj were confidants and of course both married the "James Alexander Mckenzies". I will let her know of Wilma's passing. She lives out here in BC very close to us. Once again, so sorry. I hope your family are doing well. - Posted by: Laurie Mckenzie-Tann (cousin to Lorraine and Christine) on: Aug 27, 2017
