SCOTT DOUGLAS MCRORIE December 12, 1964 - August 22, 2017 It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our son, brother, uncle and most importantly father, Scott. He was predeceased by his father Douglas in 1989. Left to mourn are his beloved daughter Callie, his mother Valerie, sister Lisa and nephew Quinn, in-laws Barb and Brian Broadhead, and Callie's mother Patricia, as well as his many relatives and friends. Scott graduated from Westwood Collegiate and Red River College in Winnipeg. A natural-born salesman, he held several positions in retail including Kmart and Saan Stores where he worked his way up to store manager. Later he tried his hand at entrepreneurship starting his own janitorial company among other ventures. He returned to sales with Rustcraft Cards and found himself travelling east, eventually making Amherstburg his home. From cards he moved to caps, working at R.P. Scherer and when that company closed he managed to get his foot in the door at their competitor Accucaps by putting his janitorial skills to work. As usual, Scott's people personality and outstanding work ethic made an impression and he soon found himself working on the production line, eventually assuming the role of Senior Production Manager in Strathroy. Scott had many hobbies and interests including woodworking, sailing, kayaking, cycling and running. He was a member of several clubs including the Essex County Canoe Club and the Amherstburg Running Club. The true love of his life, however, was his daughter Callie. She was his princess and he did everything he could to spend as much time with her as possible, sharing his love of kayaking with her and exploring Ontario and beyond with their little pop-up camper. Scott was a true gentleman, always ready with a smile and a helping hand or a witty remark. The world has lost one of its shining lights and seems a little dimmer without him. He will be deeply missed. We would like to thank all those involved with his care and especially his amazing friends. A celebration of Scott's life will be held in Amherstburg on Sunday, August 27. Interment in Winnipeg to follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Scott to CancerCare Manitoba or a charity of your choice.
