ELLEN MARY POOLE On the afternoon of August 30, 2017, under a bright prairie sky, Ellen Mary Poole passed away peacefully in the presence of her family at the St. Boniface General Hospital, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Born March 22, 1948 in Virden, Manitoba to Ivan and Bessie Jamieson, Ellen spent her early years on a farm in rural Manitoba before moving to Winnipeg in 1965. She married Lyle Alvin Poole on June 21, 1969 and together they raised two sons in their family home. Much of her working career was providing service to Manitoba Telephone System customers before retiring in 2000. She continued to work part-time for Statistics Canada before fully retiring in 2007. Ellen is survived by husband Lyle, son Mark (Ann) and granddaughter Emma, son Trevor (Jennifer) and grandchildren, Jared and Lauren. She is also survived by siblings, Garnet, Ruth, Jean, Joyce and Edna, and predeceased by her parents and siblings, Keith, Ken, Frank and Owen. Ellen's bright attitude and positive energy were a constant joy to everyone around her. She was always willing to support anyone who needed help. As a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Ellen will be greatly missed by everyone who had the privilege to know her. Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 6 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, Manitoba.   • I grew up in the same rural community as Ellen, and it was a great time. Such a sense of community and sharing. I had been in touch with Ellen on Facebook several times and bumped into her at the CIBC in Charleswood in the summer. I treasure that. Sincere condolences to the Pooles and Jamiesons.
