GLEN CHUN KWONG YEUNG It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend, Glen Chun Kwong Yeung. Glen passed away peacefully on September 21, 2017, at the age of 57, following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer during which time he exhibited incredible love, strength, humour, and dignity. He was predeceased by his parents, Dan Kou Young and May Hoo Chan, and is survived by his two children, Essex and Ashton, including his five brothers, two sisters, their families, numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. Born in Hong Kong on January 8, 1960, he later immigrated with his family to Canada in 1964 where he spent his formative years in Birch River and Swan River, MB, later calling Winnipeg, MB his home. Glen will forever be remembered for his incredible family-oriented spirit hosting countless family gatherings, and his warm, friendly, outgoing personality. He was a man of great generosity, and always put others before himself while filling the room with smiles and laughter. Glen cherished the many lifelong friendships he developed throughout his life and throughout his employment at Statistics Canada for the past 20 plus years. He was an avid lover of cars, hockey, cycling, and long walks but nothing surpassed his greatest love of all, his two children. A devoted and doting father, he was proud of his children's accomplishments, and even prouder of the fine individuals they have become. On behalf of Glen and his family, we would like to thank Dr. Nkosi, Dr. Garcia, and the wonderful staff of Internal Medicine at Victoria General Hospital for their compassion and the humanity provided to him throughout his care. We would also like to thank his colleagues and close friends for their unconditional love and support throughout his journey. A private interment will be held on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at 11:30 a.m., at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., Winnipeg. A celebration of Glen's life will immediately follow, commencing at 1:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Winnipeg South, 1330 Pembina Hwy., Winnipeg. For those who wish, memorial donations that are made in memory of Glen Chun Kwong Yeung will be allocated to pancreatic cancer research in his honour. Donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, 1160-675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. • Very sorry to see this. Glen Yeung was A very kind and influential mentor for me at a pivotal point in my life. I was just turning 18 years old, and had just returned to working at McDonalds St. Anne’s Road. I remember his hyena-like laugh, his endearingly kind-and-supportive nature. Glenn was double his height in Personality and was my Mr Miyagi. I’m glad to see he went on to have a family and I imagine he was deeply loved. I’m very sorry for your loss. Heaven got one of the really good ones with Glen and I hope we will see him again one day God bless his children and family. Sincerely, Vern Gall - Posted by: Vern Gall (Employee and mentoree) on: Feb 15, 2022
