FRANK ARNOLD PHRIPP Sadly, the family announces the passing of our brother Frank Phripp on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Deer Lodge Centre. Frank is survived by his siblings Arnold Phripp of Calgary, AB; Shelley Richard of Las Vegas, NV; Trymer Richard, Wanda Richard and Marcy Richard all from Winnipeg and Bonnie Richard of St. John's, NL. There are also many nieces and nephews, too numerous to mention. We want to acknowledge the ongoing support and compassion demonstrated by the aunties who continued to correspond with, visit and facetime regularly with Frank and Maureen Penner, Merle Fagnan, Mildred Guiboche, Joan Ledoux and Yvonne Ballantyne. Thank you, aunties, he loved those visits. Frank was a kind, loving, generous and adventurous soul, who rode his bicycle across Manitoba and sometimes western Canada. It was not uncommon for a family member to be travelling back and forth between Winnipeg and Thompson and come across Frank riding his bike to some job somewhere along Highway 6. Back in the day, he made a behind the bicycle cart that he hooked up and took neighbourhood kids for rides on. In some ways, Frank created the whole concept that exists today for behind the bicycle 'trailers'. Except, Frank's kart was made of an old bike frame with a wood base and lots of tape and ties!!! It never fell apart. Whatever Frank did, he did it right the first time around. Anyone who knew Frank, knew he was a back-lane hunter who scoured other people's trash for his new treasures. I'm sure there are only a few family members who were not recipients of the treasures that Frank would find and bring over. Sometimes they were good and sometimes not. Frank loved old western/duster movies, especially with John Wayne. Whenever you were at his place there would always be country music on. He liked country music before it was 'in'. Anything country, Frank was a fan, if he wasn't watching it on tv, he was reading Louis L'Amour books or listening to it on the radio. In compliance with Frank's wishes, no Funeral Service will be held. The family would like to acknowledge the staff of Selkirk Mental Health Institute and Deer Lodge Centre for their caring and compassion shown to Frank in his final years.
