Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM JAMES BROWN September 30, 1961 October 23, 2017 It is with deep sadness that our family announces the passing of our son and brother, William James Brown, at the age of 56 years. Bill will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by his father John; siblings, Betty McConnell, Carol Szuminsky, Jack, Barb (Steve) Lamotte, Bob (Joanne), Bonnie (Rod) MacDonald and his many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother Florence Brown and brother-in-law Roy McConnell. In his early years, Bill was a member of the Royal Winnipeg Rifles. He had a keen interest in history and Second World War militaria. William was employed by Great-West Life for 27 years in the Dental Claims Division. He was an avid animal lover and had a tender spot in his heart for all of God's creatures. Bill was a very kind and caring person and always put his family ahead of himself. He will be dearly missed by all of us. As per Bill's wishes, he has been cremated and a private family service will be held at a later date. I write this today, after just finding out that Bill passed away in late October. I knew him from our Winnipeg Rifles days and of course in the military collecting area. I could not help but think back to those fun days, a real decent man. The last number of years I would see him at the odd Military show, and we touch base. It is truly sad to hear of his passing, God Bless Rifleman. - Posted by: John Casarin (Friend) on: Dec 02, 2017

I worked with William until my retirement in 2000. Always an interesting fellow to chat to, many stories and pictures of his military collections. His love of the wild creatures was so admirable. The tales of squirrels taking nuts from his shirt pockets were hilarious. I remember he was so happy when an employee from another GWL office we communicated with brought back a souvenir of the Berlin Wall from a vacation in Germany for him. We teased him that only he would get so excited about a piece of stone. William overcame many challenges in his daily life but his can do spirit saw him through. Rest in Peace William. - Posted by: Moira Griffith (Former co-worker) on: Nov 23, 2017

My deepest and sincerest condolences to family. William had such a beautiful sole. I so enjoyed our teacup conversations. I've known William for 20 years. Arriving often at the same time in the mornings ...our assigned parking space was side by side. He come for a visit and we chatted for abit. Something had seemed so different. Somehow I knew, he was saying goodbye. Having lost my father in the spring, I am all to familiar with that feeling. I know William had not been feeling very well. His empty parking space has left a deep void. I know military history and artifacts. He often lost me in those conversations and I'd even say he got a little kick out of doing so. May his beautiful heart and sole rest in peace, he is home. - Posted by: Jocelyne (Coworker) on: Nov 17, 2017
