Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVIOLET ANN RENKEWITZ (nee BRIDGEFORD) March 2, 1931- December 8, 2017 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Violet Ann Renkewitz, aged 86, in the presence of her family at the Grace Hospice. Violet will be lovingly missed by her daughter Janice (David Mathers) Deck; son-in-law Edward Walker; grandchildren, Martin (Tammy Savoie) Deck, Kevin (Zhairyl) Deck, Meaghan (Cory Graham) Walker, Jennifer (Alec) Klippenstein; great-grandchildren, Jackson, Zoey, Caryl and Xander; nephews, Jim (Lynn) Bridgeford and Bob (Ruth) Thomas; niece Bernice (Lorne) Turcotte; sisters-in-law, Agnes Worster, Sylvia Langille and Dorothy Renkewitz, as well as many more surviving family members and dear friends. Violet is predeceased by her loving husband Wigon Renkewitz (2010); daughter Barbara Walker (2008); parents, Daisy and John Bridgeford; sisters, Margaret, Betty, Marge (Lloyd) Thomas; brothers, Reg (Marg) Rippon, Jimmy (Jesse) Bridegford, Johnny (Mary) Bridgeford; brothers-in-law, John (Dorothy) Renkewitz, Alex (Agnes) Worster, Don (Sylvia) Langille; and nieces, Elizabeth (Bob) Oman, Pat (Eddie) Pagen and Sylvia Worster. Violet was born in Winnipeg at the Grace Hospital. She grew up with the love of her parents, brothers and sisters who doted on her. She attended Daniel Mac High School and boasted about singing in their award winning choral programme. She married Wigon (Bill) in 1950 and was devoted to her two daughters, Barbara and Janice, born in 1951 and 1955. Bill and Violet moved to Brandon in 1959, where she met Audrey who became a lifelong friend. Violet enjoyed a career in the lab at the Brandon Mental Hospital. Returning to Winnipeg in 1968, she continued her career at HSC and the Grace Hospital, where she met good friends, Heather, Marcella, Eleanor and Evelyn. Violet took great care of her parents and was devoted to babysitting her grandchildren. Her love of family was evident in preparing weekly family dinners. She enjoyed baking, knitting, decorating, travel, reading, gardening and lively political debates. Heartfelt gratitude is extended to the numerous doctors, nurses and staff for the wonderful care she received at CancerCare, Riverview and Grace Hospice. A celebration of Violet's life will be held at Salvation Army Heritage Park Temple located at 825 School Road, Saturday, December 16, at 4:00 p.m. with refreshments to follow.
