DONNA IONE NEWFIELD (nee GARDINER) September 20, 1930 - December 12, 2017 Sadly, on December 12, 2017, Donna passed away at Tuxedo Villa. She leaves to mourn her husband Harvey Newfield, children Robert (Cindy) Newfield, Todd ( Sheryl) Newfield, daughter Joanne (Tom) Haldane, 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son Jeffrey on December 18, 2016, her parents Marjorie and Donald Gardiner, in-laws Margaret and George Newfield, brother David Gardiner and sister-in-law Joyce Alexander. Mom was an RN graduate from the Misericordia Hospital in 1951 and married Dad, shortly thereafter settling in Toronto. It wasn't long before the family grew to six. They returned to Winnipeg in 1958. Mom and Dad travelled extensively to warmer climates either cruising or enjoying all inclusives before settling as snowbirds at Viewpoint in Mesa, Arizona. Here they developed life-long friendships. Mom had a passion for crosswords and an uncanny ability to solve cryptoquotes in her head. Mom was a gifted pianist and often accompanied Dad on the clarinet. In 1969, they became proud cottage owners at Tannis Lake. A lake family quickly developed. There were many lake gatherings in the porch where all were welcome to join in the musical interludes. Mom's quick wit and sense of humour was enjoyed by all. Cremation has taken place. As per Mom's request, a private family service will take place at a later date. Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • So many fond memories growing up at Tannis Lake with all the great cottage owners including the Newfield's. Mrs. Newfield had a wonderful dry sense of humour and was never hesitant to say what was on her mind !! It really was The Wonder Years for all the kids. Condolences to all the family.
