Date of Passing: Dec 26, 2017
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or Memory(EDNA) MAY SINGLETON (nee HAMILTON) May 2, 1919 - December 26, 2017 It is with sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, at the age of 98. Predeceased by her husband George Herbert Singleton in 1985; by her infant son Glen; by her daughter Alice Fleck (Glen) in Sept 2015; and by her siblings, John, Charles, Florence, Myrtle, and Jean; as well as her son-in-law Leo Dufault. She is survived by her sister Ethel Campbell and she leaves her daughters, Evelyn Dufault, Ruth Thomas (Bob), Susan MacKenzie (Bob); son Stan; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren with another on the way. May grew up on a farm, the eldest of the girls. Encouraged by her teacher to further her education beyond the rural school, she boarded in town and got her Grade 10. May and George married in 1938 and within a few years they moved into Winnipeg, living in St. Boniface and later Fort Garry. May learned to type and in 1956 went to work at Winnipeg Supply and then at Federated Insurance until she retired in 1979 to spend time with George. When she wasn't reading (a love she passed down to her family) or knitting; she curled, bowled, lawn bowled, played darts, shuffleboard and golf. In 2014 she moved into Kildonan Personal Care Home and the family would like to thank the staff on Two who looked after her with care and affection. She touched many with her gentle smile and a genuine love of people and life. She will be missed. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB. Rest In Peace Mae, you were a classy and classic lady. Always enjoyed your company. You were always interesting conversation and always had a thoughtful thing to say. But your witty humour is what I’ll remember most. To share a small conversation we had together 1 Christmas dinner, I asked you what you would like as a drink. You politely replied, Whiskey, and I would like it like I like my men. Straight Up! Thanx for the memories Mae. - Posted by: Michel Dufault () on: Dec 30, 2017
