Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVICTORIA (VICKIE) SHAMBROCK December 20, 1926 - January 29, 2018 It is with saddened hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Vickie Shambrock at the age of 91. Left to cherish her memory are her son David (Lena), daughter Donna (Gord) and their children and grandchildren. Vickie had four grandchildren, Matthew (Stephanie), Kevin (Breanne), Katie and Jonathen (Patricia), as well as three great-grandchildren, Natasha, Alexander and Mikaela. Vickie was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Vic and her grandson Kevin. Vickie was born and raised in Arnaud, Manitoba to Adolph and Valerie Smidt. She was the second youngest of eight children, and while growing up on the farm she acquired a strong work ethic. In her early twenties she moved to Winnipeg to pursue her career in hairdressing, where she developed a reputation as one of the top hairdressers in the city. She met and fell in love with Vic and got married in 1950. Together they raised their family in River Heights, where they held many wonderful family gatherings. Vickie had a passion for life, and an unconditional love for family. She and her husband enjoyed many social activities with family and friends, including bowling, card nights, travelling and dancing. Their home was often the site for special celebrations, and Vickie's cooking and baking made these events memorable. She had a natural green thumb and loved spending time in her garden. Throughout the years, she took pride in spending time with her grandchildren, as they truly were the light of her life. She loved having them over regularly to spend quality time together including sleepovers, which created lifelong memories for all the grandchildren. We would like to thank all of the caregivers and doctors that cared for Vickie throughout the past year, especially Riverview during her final days to ensure she had a peaceful passing. A funeral will take place Thursday, February 1, 2018 at St. John Brebeuf Parish, 1707 John Brebeuf Place at 11:00 a.m. followed by a reception in the church hall. A private interment will take place at a later date.
