Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJAMES ANTHONY LEDDY September 28, 1935 - February 5, 2018 Jim (82) passed unexpectedly at Health Sciences Centre on Monday, February 5. He was surrounded by his wife and family. Jim was predeceased by his mother Kathleen, father James, and sister Mary. Jim was a loving husband and is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Josephine, and daughters Catherine (Glenn Frederick), Eleanor (Fred Mislawchuk) and Carolyn (Derek Kantimer). He was loving "Papa Jim" to Chera (Darren), Tracy (Steve), Kyle (Tina), Justine (Tomos), Tyler, Madison, Keagan and Kaitlyn; and Great-Papa to Nick, Laine, Josie, Alex, Mae and Marty. Jim is also survived by extended family in the United States and in Ireland. Jim lived a life filled with travel and adventure. Born in Cavan, Ireland, Jim immigrated to Canada in 1956. He was soon a proud Canadian but "Seamus" never forgot his Irish roots. Jim worked almost 50 years as a heavy equipment maintenance specialist. Always on the move, he worked across central Canada from Elliot Lake, ON to Gillam, MB as he and Josephine raised their three girls. In the last half of his career his expertise took him overseas on major projects in Peru, India, and Venezuela. He immersed himself in all cultures and made close friends wherever he lived. By the time he retired he could manage a conversation in Spanish, Hindi or French! A man of strong faith and commitment to the Church, Jim was a constant presence at worship and his hand was always up for volunteering. He was a cancer survivor and worked diligently for Manitoba Prostate Cancer support. He also donated time with the Knights of Columbus and was a great dog lover (...we know Jim is now reunited with his beloved puppy Sparkey). A memorial service will be held in Jim's honour on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ our Saviour Parish, Steinbach, MB. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Manitoba Prostate Cancer Support Group, Box 315 - 971 Corydon Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3M 3S7. I was saddened to hear of Jim's passing recently. I worked with Jim at Canadian Tire Kenaston and we shared a lot of laughs and talk of travels. A truly fine man has left us too soon! Bill Baron - Posted by: Bill Baron (Co-worker) on: Mar 09, 2018

Sad news to read of Jim's passing. My husband Frank Vallely always held Jim in high regard while they worked together for their time at Vulcan Machinery. Prayers go out to Jim's wife and all family. God bless. Eileen Vallely - Posted by: Eileen Vallely (Friend) on: Feb 09, 2018
