Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTERESA MARIE SCHWINGHAMMER September 26, 1929 - February 15, 2018 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Teresa (Terri, as her friends knew her). Teresa is remembered by numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends. She was predeceased by her parents John and Katherine Schwinghammer; sisters Helen (Rudy) Guber, Agnes (Alois) Taphorn, Gertrude Schwinghammer and Cecilia (Albert) Eggerman; brother Jerome (Shirley) Ingram; and nephews Roland and Daryl Witte. Born at St. Gregor, SK, Teresa and her family moved to Englefeld, SK when she was five years old. She remained there until Grade 9 and then attended St. Ursula's Academy in Bruno, SK for Grades 10, 11 and 12. Theresa completed her nursing at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Humboldt, SK, graduating in 1954. She practiced nursing in several hospitals in Saskatchewan before leaving for a year to nurse at 2 (Fighter) Wing Grostenquin, France. When she returned back home, she accepted a nursing position in Winnipeg where she worked until she retired in 1995. Teresa enjoyed travelling, taking trips throughout 39 countries including Europe, Asia, the Holy Land, Egypt, USA and Canada. Her retired days were spent reading (Theresa loved books!), playing cards and games with her friends (her nickname was "Scrabble Queen") and she never missed an episode of Coronation Street. Teresa also loved all things cats and always had a furry friend with her to keep her company. Graveside service by request to be held in the spring at Holy Guardian Angel Cemetery in Englefeld SK. Arrangements entrusted to Wojcik's Funeral Home (Winnipeg, MB) and Schuler-Lefebvre Funeral Chapel (Humboldt, SK). Thank you to Jean Bellows and Lee Brown - your friendship was special to Teresa. I remember Terri as a gentle, consummate professional and teacher when she was my Nursing Supervisor. Years have flown by, but I also have a special memory of her comment of her dad, referencing her height; that she was his "Long Stemmed Rose". Beautiful!
