MARY LOUISE KENNEDY October 6, 1915 - February 15, 2018 Peacefully, on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at Oakview Place, Mary Louise Kennedy passed away at the age of 102. Mary was born on the family farm in Glenboro, Manitoba on October 6, 1915 to Charles and Frances Snart. She was predeceased by her parents and all of her siblings, John, Bill, Joe, Lucy, Ruth, Fan, Lyla, Mabel and Bert. She is survived by her daughter Bevy MacLennan, granddaughter Colleen (Hamid) Zahedi, grandson Scott MacLennan and great-granddaughters, Holly and Missy Zahedi. Mary was a devoted daughter and was very proud of the fact that she was the only one to be married on the family farm, as this was a dream of her dad and it brought him such joy when his dream came true. She enjoyed sharing the farm chores and loved to tell the story of how she still had her five cows to milk, even on her wedding day. Mary loved the country life as a young girl and spent many hours at the local skating rink and going to barn dances with her sisters on Saturday nights along with their brother Joe as their chaperone. It was at one of these dances that she met her love John (Alec) Kennedy. They were married on September 28, 1940 and shared 74 years of marriage. Mary was a devoted wife and mother and found such joy in all family activities. She treasured those special times with her daughter Bevy, when it was just the two of them while Alec was on the road for work. She enjoyed volunteering at their church, at Bevy's school and the community club where she was involved with Bevy's Brownies and Girl Guide groups. She especially enjoyed their weekly movie nights when she and Bevy would walk up to the King's Theatre. She had a very close relationship with her grandchildren, Colleen and Scott, and loved being a part of their lives. She enjoyed attending Scott's baseball games and meeting them for special lunches at Kmart. She was always so grateful that she and Alec were lucky enough to be a part of their great-granddaughters Holly and Missy's lives as well. She enjoyed hearing all of their stories, seeing their pictures they drew of her 100th birthday celebration, which hung on her bedroom wall and hearing about all of their accomplishments in school and dance. Mary will be missed dearly and will forever hold a special spot in our hearts. The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Oakview Place for their wonderful care and kindness. A private family service will happen at a later date. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit www.chapellawn.ca Chapel Lawn Funeral Home 204-885-9715
