DOUGLAS GEORGE TEASDALE 1939 - 2018 Peacefully, with family at his bedside, Doug passed away on February 17, 2018 at Riverview Health Centre, after a courageous battle with cancer. Doug was predeceased by his parents, Gowan and Marjorie. Left to treasure his memory are his wife Jan; sister Della; mother-in-law Vera; and two daughters: Susan (Ben) and Dawn (Glen); grandchildren: Kyle (Nancy), Real, and Piers; great-grandchildren: Rusty James, Billie-Joe, Lita, and Fletcher; and many family friends, including Jim and Lucille, and Jeff and Pat. Doug spent many a summer at his cottages at Grand Beach, Island Beach, and Lakeshore Heights, where he spent many hours of quality time enjoying nature. He was a particularly avid bird-watcher, and was the resident expert who could always be relied upon to spot and identify any bird. Doug, and the love of his life, Jan, enjoyed travelling south to Florida, the Caribbean, and Mexico. Of all the many places visited, Doug's favourite tropical destination was Hawaii. Doug enjoyed music, including the blues, and collected many recordings. He was a keen reader, and liked to follow current affairs, scientific discoveries, and nature related stories. Doug will always be remembered for his ingenuity and ability to fix or repair almost anything, and was eager to pass along advice to others. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff at Riverview Health Centre Palliative Care Ward, whose dedicated care gave great comfort to the family. There will be a private Celebration of Life later in the spring. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to, are invited to make a donation in Doug's memory to CancerCare Manitoba, or a charity of one's choice.
