EDNA MATTES (nee BEZAK) Peacefully, on March 16, 2018, our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away at Riverview Health Centre, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was predeceased by Norman, her husband of 51 years. Born in Ethelbert, Manitoba on September 12, 1936. Mom was the eldest of four children. Her parents were John and Pearl Bezak. She spent her early years on the family farm in Cowan, Manitoba, later settling in Winnipeg. She married Dad in 1956 and together they raised a growing family. As the years progressed, Mom and Dad especially loved spending time with their children and grandchildren. Mom started to work for Canada Post in 1971, she would often allow her children to test her memory on postal codes for different streets. She enjoyed her job until finally retiring at age 64. She spent her retirement years with her family and grandchildren and always loved gardening and baking where mastering that perfect tomato or pastry was the standard. Mom will be profoundly missed by her children, Richard; Gord (Mary-Anne); Lori (Thomas); Brad (Daniela), her beloved grandchildren, Alicia (Rob), Blair, Austin, Erica, Zahra, and two precious great-grandchildren, Maia and Amelia. She is survived by her siblings, Albert (Betty), Margaret (Joe), David, as well as nieces and nephews. At Mom's request, no formal funeral service will be held and a private family service has taken place. We would like to thank the staff at CancerCare Manitoba, Palliative Care Unit at Riverview and the Palliative Care Program. In lieu of flowers, please honour Mom with a donation to CancerCare Manitoba. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit www.chapellawn.ca Chapel Lawn Funeral Home 204-885-9715

I was sorry to see this. I remember Lori's Mum so well. She was so proud of her lovely home and family. Susan Deacon ( Procaylo ) - Posted by: Susanna Deacon (Childhood friend. ) on: Dec 27, 2019
