Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRUTH HERTHA SANDER Peacefully on Thursday, May 31, 2018 Mom passed away at the Victoria General Hospital at the age of 96 years. Ruth was predeceased by her parents, Jakob and Mary; husband Ray Kaisler (1974); husband Rev. Alfred Sander (2005); sister Edna Magel, and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law. She will be sadly missed by son Vern Kaisler (Joanne); daughters, Lisa Griffin (Roland) and Susan Borkowsky (Alan); Alf's children, Lee Sander (Lois), Neil Sander (Val), Lois Borkowsky (Brian) and Eleanor Sander (Ingemar); sister Arlene Nichol, and brother-in-law Ray Magel. Also grieving her passing are her 18 grandchildren, Krista (Dave), Heather, Jean (Andy), Kristoffer (Candace), Leah (Corey), Lani (David), Alanna (Ian), Andrew (Leslie), Kent (Jillian), Julianna, Kevin (Elaine), Danny, Rachel (Gabe), Melanie, Katrina, Sarah (Carson), Jonathan and Nicholas. Ruth was also blessed with 22 great-grandchildren, Ellis, Anna, Naomi, Joel, Marcus, Jacob, Samuel, Julia, Grace, Emmett, Callan, Kaitlin, Avery, Sophie, Charlie, Sullivan, Lucia, Nate, Henrik, Elsie, Stella and Daxton. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews, friends and their families. On May 22, 1922 Ruth Hertha was born on her mother's 18th birthday, in Rhein, SK, to parents Jakob and Mary Pfeifer. They moved to Winnipeg when Ruth was young. She was the eldest of three daughters and was born during the Great Depression. It was instilled in her at an early age not to throw anything away! We remember stories of her only having "one nice white blouse" and how she would walk to work to save 10 cent bus fare. Family and church meant the world to Mom and every holiday included visiting relatives either in Canada or the USA. Our favourite holiday was always out at Luther Village where her children and grandchildren continue to visit. As a church organist, Ruth enjoyed playing for many congregations over the years. She was a faithful member of Redeemer Lutheran and most recently Messiah Lutheran. Another of her favourite things to do was to take her family out to eat. We were blessed to be able to spend Mom's 96th birthday with her. It was one of the last days she was alert and enjoying herself. A private family graveside service will be held in Brookside Cemetery followed by Ruth's memorial service which will be held on Friday, June 8, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in Messiah Lutheran Church, 400 Rouge Road. Donations may be made to Messiah Lutheran Church, Canadian Cancer Society or Luther Village Wojcik's Funeral Chapels & Crematoriums, 2157 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg 204.897.4665 www.wojciksfuneralchapel.com

Gone to be with Jesus . . . Always committed in her faith and her walk with the Lord. She was a friend of pastors and their families from being a young girl. She was a bridesmaid for our mother, Anna Miller when she was married in 1937. Our love and prayers go out to Vern and family, Susan and family and Lisa and family. In Christian Love. I only met Ruth a few times after she and Alf were married. She was such a cordial hostess in her home and she clearly adored my uncle. I am so pleased to have gotten to meet her. May she Rest In Peace and condolences to her family. - Posted by: Gretchen Tiberghien (Step niece ( Alf’s niece)) on: Jun 05, 2018
