JAMES (JIM) HOOD
Date of Passing: Jun 14, 2018
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJAMES (JIM) HOOD September 1917 - June 2018 A life well lived - Jim, with courage and dignity, peacefully passed at the age of 100 on June 14, 2018. Jim loved his family and valued his friends. Left to cherish his memory is his daughter Louise (Ray), son Jack, his grandchildren, Kelly (Derek), Brent (Sheila), Ryan (Natalie), Hayden and Joshua, and his great-grandchildren, Rayne, Tyson, Cielle, Easton, Owen, Brooks, Brayden and Hartley. He dearly missed his wife, Rose, of 71 years who predeceased him in 2013. In his later years he was fondly known as Pop to those who loved and knew him well. He was a gentleman, dignified and kind, lending a hand to others whenever he could. He lived independently and with good health past his 100th birthday celebration. He enjoyed fun times with family and friends camping at Nutimik Lake and Lac du Bonnet. He enjoyed fishing and sitting around the campfire with his close friends and his family. His talent with tools impressed us all when he took on big and small projects. He proudly served Canada during the Second World War with the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI) and the Royal Canadian Regiment (RCR). When he returned to Canada he learned vehicle mechanics and worked for Dominion Motors for over 30 years. He retired at 64 and started Jim's Waterbed Service and helped many people for several more years. In retirement, Jim and Rose spent many joyful hours with their grandchildren and were proud of them and their accomplishments. They welcomed their great-grandchildren and Pop enjoyed his birthday celebrations with all of us. Special thanks to Sharon (Comforts of Home Care) for providing exceptionally good care for Jim, he looked forward to her visits. Many thanks to Joan and Cheryl at Oakview Day Club and to all those who looked out for Jim at Kiwanis Terrace. We are grateful for the kind care of Tower 4 staff at Deer Lodge Centre for the past five months. A life well lived is a precious gift, of hope and strength and grace, from someone who has made our world a brighter, better place.
