PATRICIA MARJORY JOHNSON (DEMLER) (nee ANDERSON) It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our dear mother, Pat Johnson, aged 90 years, on Sunday, October 21, 2018, with her family by her side. She leaves to cherish her memory: daughters, Laurel (Dan) Gargan, Karen (Jim) Nicholson, Darlene (Ben) Morissette, Jackie (Neil) Shale and Marilyn (Rod) Kendall; nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, as well as many relatives and friends. Pat was predeceased by her parents, Fanny (Severson) and Dr W. E. Anderson, and husbands, Laude Demler in 1954 and Ed Johnson in 1989. Mom was born in Broderick, SK November 12, 1927 and grew up in many small towns across Saskatchewan and Manitoba. She lost both her parents while she was in her teens and was taken in by relatives (Newgard). She was a great mom, homemaker and wife, looking after the books for the family farm and trucking business for over 50 years, while living in Starbuck where she resided until her passing. Mom was an avid gardener, reader and artist, pastimes shared by both of her parents. She was proud to be a founding member of the Starview Manor Society and Starbuck Art Club. Mom continued to paint and draw even after a stroke reduced her strength in 2005. "When I am gone, release me. Let me go. I have so many things to see and do. You mustn't tie yourself to me with tears. Be happy we had so many beautiful years. I gave to you my love; you can only guess How much you gave to me in happiness. I thank you for the love you each have shown, But now it's time I traveled on alone. So grieve for me a while, if grieve you must. Then let your grief be comforted by trust. It's only for a while that we must part, So treasure the memories within your heart. I won't be far away, for life goes on. So if you need me, call and I will come. Though you can't see or touch me, I'll be near. And if you listen with your heart, You'll hear all my love around you soft and clear. And then, when you must come this way alone, I'll greet you with a smile and say welcome home..." Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 26, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Starbuck, MB, with lunch to follow in the lower level of the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Pat's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Trinity Lutheran Church. The family would like to sincerely thank the staff of the Portage Hospital and the many homecare workers and friends for their compassionate care and kindness. Doyle's Funeral Home in care of arrangements. www.doylesfuneralhome.ca

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • My deepest condolences to all of Pats family, she was one great lady. I knew Pat for many years as her and Laude's farm was only a couple of farms away from my dad's. When I was young I used to walk or ride my bike over to visit and Pat always made me feel welcome. I will always remember her as a wonderful lady, she will be missed. - Posted by: Doreen Buss (Friend) on: Oct 24, 2018
