ROGER STUPACK It is with great sadness that the family of Roger Stupack announce his sudden passing, with family at his side, in his 77th year, on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at Grace Hospital in Winnipeg. Roger leaves to mourn his passing, his loving wife of 46 years, Marthe (nee Boily); children, Brian (Odilia), Brenda (Keith), Darlene (Matthew); grandchildren, Kelsey, Logan, Kevin, Maegan, Caidence and Azrael. Also left to survive are his sister Sally; brothers, Gary, Erven and Bernie (Carey) as well as numerous brothers and sisters-in-law. He was predeceased by his parents, Anton and Jessie Stupak and brother-in-law Eugene. Dad was born in Brokenhead, Manitoba on May 22, 1941. He grew up on the family farm where he helped his parents with daily chores. The family later moved to Winnipeg where Dad finished his high school education. He pursued a career in the airline business as a station agent in a variety of different jobs starting in Northern Manitoba with Transair in 1965, then with Pacific Western and Canadian Airlines, moving to different locations along the way. He took his retirement in 1999. Dad was always willing to help family and friends with their household projects. He enjoyed spending time outdoors at the cottage in Traverse Bay and loved picking berries to share with his family. He loved a good joke and was often coming up with what got to be known in our family and with close friends as "roger-isms". When younger, he enjoyed taking us to the bush where we cut and hauled wood and picnicked on bologna sandwiches, a favourite of Dad's his entire life. He always took interest in local and world events, golfing, fishing and spending fun time with his special group of friends. He enjoyed many family vacations and after retirement went on many trips with Mom, including numerous vacations in Puerto Vallarta. Dad's grandchildren were very precious to him and he cherished every minute spent with them. He was a long-time parishioner of St. Paul the Apostle Church. Dad will be greatly missed by not only his family but anyone who got to know him. Many thanks to Dr. Poon, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service and the staff at Grace Hospital for their care and compassion in Dad's final hours. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 8, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Paul the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 2400 Portage Avenue, with Rev. Fr. Eric Giddins presiding. Cremation has taken place and Dad will be laid to rest once the weather warms as that is what he would have wished. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice. "Dad, you will forever remain in our broken hearts rest in peace."

  • Martha, Brian, Brenda, Darlene and families. I was shocked when I heard of Roger's untimely passing last month. Please accept my condolences on Roger's passing as he was a great husband, father and grandfather. So sorry to hear of your loss. I first met Roger when we worked together for a short time in Brandon and a day never passed that "he always made my day". A few years passed and we again worked together in Thunder Bay, Ontario for a number of years. A comment made a short while ago about Roger introducing the low priced air fares; brought a true story to mind many years ago. A young person came to the counter and asked how much was, the youth standby fare, to ? To which Roger gave the fare and the youth didn't have the correct amount. Roger then asked well how much do you have? The youth counted out what they had and Roger replied that was now the correct fare, here is your boarding pass the flight is loading in 20 minutes. He would rather help some out and not turn away a customer. So that was how he introduced low cost air fares in Canada. - Posted by: Len Steg (Friend/co-worker) on: Feb 10, 2019

  • Dear Martha & family, We were very saddened to hear of Roger's sudden passing. We had just been recalling seeing you both, here in Puerto Vallarta, as we passed Costa Sur on our way to Mismaloya. I also have very fond memories from our Transair days. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. Tannis & Chic Bell - Posted by: Tannis & Chic Bell (Friend) on: Feb 10, 2019

  • We offer our condolences to Marthe and the rest of the Family on the passing of Roger. I will always remember him as a gentle giant and a God Loving friend. We spent some time fishing together and he taught me how to filet the fish so there were no bones. Thank you. You will be missed. Until we meet again in Heaven, Fish-On and keep looking for those pennies. - Posted by: Donna and Pat Litzenberger (Friend) on: Feb 09, 2019

  • Very sad to see the news of Rogers’s passing. My heart goes out to his family at this difficult time. Will never forget the first day we worked together in Pacific Western res office in 1984. Roger was always full of fun and a real gentleman, then we ended up going to the same church St. Paul the Apostle. RIP with our Lord . - Posted by: Mandy Moss (Co-worker friend) on: Feb 08, 2019

  • My deepest condolences to Roger’s family. I had the pleasure working with Roger in the Winnipeg Reservations office for Canadian Airlines almost 25 years ago. Roger was a great man with a fantastic sense of humour. I always remember the way he was with his clients on the phone. It didn’t seem like a job Roger to Roger. He was always laughing with his clients and telling jokes with his peers! His laughter and his sense of will always be something that I remember! He was a great guy and it was a privilege to work him for the few years that I did. Rest In Peace Roger!! - Posted by: Robert Lobson (Former work Colleague ) on: Feb 05, 2019

  • Russ and I are truly sorry for your sudden loss of Roger. Our hearts go out to you right now. I remember at a family funeral a few years ago my Dad, Audie sat with your Dad, Roger. They were joking around and laughing while catching up on life. They still giggled and said some one liners during the funeral service like little boys. It was special and funny to see❤️. Try holding in your laughter at a funeral and while those two were saying things.❤️ I pray God's peace and comfort envelope all your hurting hearts during these difficult days and always. May Jesus' strength be infused in all of you today and always.❤️ - Posted by: Angela Stupak (Second cousin) on: Feb 05, 2019
