With deep sorrow the family announces the passing of Isabel Rutter, aged 83, on April 19, 2019 at Carman Memorial Hospital.
Isabel is survived by her three sons, Ken, Blair (Yolanda Hogeveen) and Blaine (Shannon), grandchildren, Jessica, Jenessa and Jayden Rutter; Emily (Curt) Smolinski and Alexander Hogeveen Rutter (Samyaka Verma); Cory (Virginia), Jolene (Gavin) Callum, Cal (fiancée Jessica Hutton), Leanne, and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by siblings, Roberta Dyck, James MacNair, Neil (Linda) MacNair and Elsie Coates, sister-in-law Joyce Rutter, and many nieces and nephews.
Isabel was predeceased by her beloved husband Gordon in 2007, her parents, Neil and May MacNair, sister May Braden, daughter-in-law Patricia Rutter (nee Wood), and infant grandson Jarrett Rutter.
Mom was raised on a farm and attended school in Graysville, completing her grade 12 at Kelvin High School in Winnipeg. She earned a diploma from Success Business College and worked for a short time at Manitoba Blue Cross before marrying Gordon in 1956 and residing on their farm at Rosebank, MB.
In 1998, Isabel and Gordon moved to Carman. They enjoyed their annual winter vacations in Texas, playing floor shuffleboard (where Mom won several trophies), dancing, cards and other events. Mom also enjoyed playing cards and participating in activities at the Carman Active Living Centre.
Mom was an avid curler, water-skier and bowler (lawn and 5 pin). She was an active member of the United Church of Canada in Graysville, Rosebank, Miami and Carman, serving on a number of committees and in the choir.
A celebration of Isabel's life is to be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 26 at Carman United Church.
The family would like to express our deep appreciation to the staff at the Boyne Lodge and the Carman Memorial Hospital for the care and kindnesses shown to Isabel over the final weeks of her life.
If friends and relatives so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Carman Area Foundation, the Miami and Area Foundation, or a charity of your choice.
