AGOSTINO (GUS) BRAMBILLA
March 7, 1926 - June 2, 2019

On June 2, 2019, at the Grace Hospital, Agostino of 93 years was peacefully embraced by our Lord.
Gus leaves to cherish his memory to his dear wife of 34 years, Angelina; his children, Armando, Teresa, Josie, Laura, Roberto and Rita and their families; Angelina's daughters, Dolores, Penny and their families; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his brothers, Antonino and Vincenzo, along with many nieces and nephews.
Gus was predeceased by his mother and father; his sister Zina; brothers, Giuseppe and Nicola; his first wife Providenza Di Novo; his second wife Assunta Abamonte; his in-laws, Giuseppina and Agostino Di Novo and Giuseppina and Gaetano Cianflone.
Gus was a multi-talented man. He was a great chef and owned his own restaurant in St. Boniface for 25 years. He enjoyed spending time at the cottage in Gimli. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed sharing the fruits of his labour with friends and relatives. For many years Gus led the team to prepare the delicious food for the Italian Pavilion during the Folklorama Festival. He was a member of the Fratellanza Amatese, and performed in the theatre group. He was a Christian in the Roman Catholic tradition, and a very faithful member of the Holy Rosary Parish, attending Mass every Sunday. Essentially Gus was a man who enjoyed the simpler things in life.
The family would like to thank the wonderful and caring staff at the Grace Hospital and all the support staff from home care. Special thanks to friends and family for all their love and support.
Pallbearers: Larry Smykalski, Greg Block, Alfonso Fiorentino, Alfonso Anania, Tony Rizzuto and Tony Cianflone.
Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at Holy Rosary Church, 510 River Avenue at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Sam Argenziano presiding. Viewing and condolences begin at 10:00 a.m.
Entombment will take place at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd.

Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • Teresa (Vito - Vita and Nadia) and Josie and Angelina, our most sincere condolences on the passing of your dearest marito, pappa and nonno, Gus. The Marinelli introduction to the Brambilla family was via Vito and my brothers, Silvio and Toni playing in the band "Solo Noi" in the late 1970. Then Vita was born and our mother, Maria Transi-Marinelli (God rest her soul), babysat Vita for some three years until they moved to Vancouver. That's when we got to know Gus at the restaurant. Delicious, aromatic, mouth watering food. Such a happy and giving man, always asking to try this or that. Our mother, Maria got to know Gus and his first wife (Teresa and Josie's mother), Providenza as well as his second wife, Assunta but was the closest to Angelina. They may not have seen each other much but they would keep in contact on the phone all the time. Losing someone we love is never easy, may you take comfort in knowing that you are surrounded by people that love and care for you. “When you miss Gus just look up to the night sky and remember, he's like a star; sometimes you can’t see him, but he's always there.” Thinking of the whole family and praying for peace in your hearts during this very difficult and sad time. Sincerely, Anna Marinelli and family (Calgary) - Posted by: Anna Marinelli (Friend) on: Jun 12, 2019

  • My memory of Agostino was when I would be visiting Josie at the Roma Restaurant. Also the days when my family and I would visit my Uncle's cabin in Gimli. Agostino was always very nice to me. My condolences to the Brambilla family. From the Ingrilli family - Posted by: Anna Ingrill Bruneau (Friend of the family) on: Jun 11, 2019

  • My sincerest condolences & love to my special & strong Auntie Angie, Uncle Vince, Bobby & the Entire Brambilla Family. I love him & I will miss our conversations, his laugh & how his face lit up. I admired his perfectionism & am thankful for his teachings & everything having its place. I will cherish all the memories especially those in Gimli & Matlock for which I have so many. I thank him for his love & generosity to me, my Aunt, my Grandparents & the entire family. Who is going to make me cheese & the best cannoli EVER? He was quite the chef & he & Auntie were unbeatable in the kitchen. Despite his pain, he was always there for all of us, family & friends alike. I know he is resting in peace now & enjoying all of God's promises. Until we see you again I will love & miss you dearly. May God give you strength in this time of loss & Bless you all as you celebrate his life. You are all in my prayers Kymmy PS: I did not bake the blueberry pie we all shared at Matlock despite him believing I did & Uncle Vince knows I tried to tell him. Yet another good funny memory. - Posted by: Kym Loschiavo (Niece) on: Jun 10, 2019

  • My Condolences to the family and to his wife Angie. I have many fond memories of Gus, but the one that stands out is his generosity, always thinking of others. I really enjoyed his visits, when he would come to my Mom's house. You will be remembered forever. God bless you Gus and rest in peace. • I would like to send my condolences to Gus' family on his passing. Here is a quote that I would like to share with the family. Gus has not died but merely gone away to a better place free of pain and suffering. We will see him again some day. Rest in Peace Gus. You are loved and will be missed. - Posted by: Patricia Homenick (School friend of Armando and Theresa) on: Jun 08, 2019
