JOSEPH MICHAEL STRIKE
Joe will be missed by his loving wife and best friend Carol, of 45 years, his daughter Corissa (Rob), grandchildren, Nolan, Michael and Nicole, sister Pat (Patsy) Lowing, brother Chris (Melissa) Strike, sister-in-law Linda (Ernie) Hanlan, and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by daughter Corine and parents, Joe and Jane Strike.
Joe was a true North End Ukrainian boy born on November 21, 1949. He loved to tell stories about growing up in the North End, the people he met, and the trouble he used to get into with his Mustang. He met Carol who settled him down and they married in 1973. He worked for many years alongside his family at Strike's Grocery on Burrows. Most recently, he enjoyed his time as a Courtesy Driver for Waverley Chrysler and Gerry Gordon's Mazda where he loved hearing from, and sharing stories with his clients. In his younger years, Joe could always be found at the cabin at Falcon Lake. He also loved cheering on the Blue Bombers with Carol, as well as sharing meals he prepared on the BBQ with family and friends. His grandchildren have shared that they will always have memories of him being "a jokester, a positive person, silly, funny, and always had love for all of us".
I'm Free
Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free.
My days of youthful agility were no longer a possibility. My weak joints and cloudy eyes were longing for the heavenly skies. Before I lost all dignity, you let me enter eternity. Don't grieve for me, you've set me free,
just remember how I used to be!

We met Joe and Carol while canoeing backwards past their Falcon dock during Canada Day Fireworks. Little did we know that they would 'get it' as the bugs were bad and and fireworks were behind us. Our fondest memories of Joe? Dropping in at anytime for a visit. "Old Joe's" birthday party when Joe mastered the grilling of everything grilled. SEWFD garage sale. Having a drink in the sunroom when the weather was crappy. Laughing at Billy Bass too many times....so much fun. We miss you Joe. Carol, our thoughts are with you. - Posted by: Karen & Ian (Lake neighbours) on: Jul 09, 2019

I was saddened when I read today that Joey had passed away. I was childhood friends with both him and his sister Patsy. We grew up together at Falcon Lake. We played for hours on the bunk beds at their cabin, if it was raining. But, on sunny days, our mothers couldn't get us out of the water of beautiful Falcon Lake. I still remember the year we all swam to "the island" which was about a quarter of a mile off-shore from our cabins. It was an ideal time, back in the 1950-'60s... and the Strike children were the very best childhood friends I could have had. God bless you Joey and keep you safe. - Posted by: Margaret Keller (Childhood friend) on: Jul 06, 2019

I am truly sorry to hear that Joe has passed away. He was a super guy. A wonderful dad and husband. He will be truly missed but always in our memories. I remember the times at the lake while growing up. I went to school with Joe's sister Pat Lowing. My condolences to Chris, Pat and Carol and their families. - Posted by: Evelyn Myskiw (Friend of the family ) on: Jul 06, 2019
