JOHN (JACK) WADDELL
1934 - 2020

Jack Waddell passed away at Boundary Trails Health Centre on Sunday, March 1, 2020, at the age of 86 years.
Jack was born in Winnipeg, the first of three sons of Ormie and Emily Waddell. He was raised on the family farm at Sperling. He spent his youth helping on the farm, playing guitar, harmonica and piano (earning the nickname of Black Key Jack) and participating in numerous sports. At one point he was the Provincial Featherweight boxing champion. After completing high school he moved into Winnipeg and began his long career with the Imperial Bank of Canada which eventually became the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC).
Jack married his childhood sweetheart, Doreen Dracass, on August 18, 1956, and they happily settled wherever the bank took them including Edmonton, Winnipeg (three times), Elm Creek, Gimli and Minnedosa. Daughter, Teri, was born in 1960 followed by son, Michael, in 1967. Jack was always an active community member belonging at various times to the Kinsmen Club and Rotary. Jack retired from CIBC in 1990 after 38 years of service and enjoyed spending retirement travelling, cooking, watching sports, and entertaining his grandchildren. In 2012 Jack and Doreen moved one last time, settling at Oak West Estates in Morden to be close to Mike's family.
Jack is survived and will be missed by Doreen, his beloved wife of 63 years, daughter Teri Nicholson, son Mike (Vanessa), brother Rae, and eight grandchildren, Jacquie (Rob McGregor), Brad, Rory, Kelsey and Rick Nicholson, Justin Nguyen, Fallon and Darra Waddell, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Ormie and Emily Waddell, and brother Larry.
Cremation has already taken place and a private service will be held at a later date.
