Nick was a brilliant young man. Often students who are gifted, especially in math, like to brag about their abilities or showcase their talents. But Nick was different. He would quietly and humbly show you his math work that was done meticulously with different ways of thinking about solutions that made me marvel. When he left grade 9 he was at the top of his accelerated math class. The next year, he didn't want to miss anything and would ask for anything that was missed; even asked for Pre-Calculus work to do over the summer. I saved him a desk last year with his Advanced Placement (AP) class. He is greatly missed and I was devastated to hear of this loss.
