PEARL SILVER
Pearl is survived by her daughter Sharon (Bruce); son Daryl (Jocelyn); stepdaughter Darlene; grandchildren, Kent (Jane), Sara (Rob), Reagan (Scott), Graham (Aly), Kristi, Debbie (Ed), Bradley and Corey; great- grandchildren, Gabrielle, Jessie, Rachel, Benji, Leo, Jacob, Jordyn, Klarissa, Quentin, Rebecca (Becky), Daniel and Joseph; the great-great-grandchildren are Brynn, Amelia and Haleigh, as well as many more extended family members.
She was predeceased by all her peers, her parents, Morris and Fanny, her husband Sherman, who passed away in 2003, and her 14 brothers, sisters and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, and granddaughter Tara.
She was born in 1920 in one of the first Jewish settlements in Manitoba, Bender Hamlet.
Pearl took an interest in everyone around her and was very empathetic to everyone she knew. She never wanted to be a problem to anyone, very stubborn and frequently swatted your hand away when you offered assistance. She was immensely proud of her children and grandchildren's accomplishments.
Her beautiful knitting for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren created special memories, and her wonderful afghans will keep us warm and close to her for years to come.
She had many special friends and most recently Jeannie and Marianne who looked out for her at Concordia Village. Special thanks to her favourite home care worker Marlene who cared for her with no limit. The staff at Concordia Village were also amazing looking after her in special ways.
Her prowess in the game of Cribbage was legendary and even at 99 she was frequently the designated counter for those participants that struggled counting. Her Christmas pudding, homemade bread and cinnamon buns were all legendary! Her granddaughter Reagan still creates the occasional batch of bread from her recipe. She was active to the end and walked the halls at a fast pace where most residents could not keep up with her. For many years she enjoyed bowling and in her 80's scored a hole in one at Harborview.
She loved to watch sports: hockey, football, curling and every night with a Jets game was welcomed.
She was a dedicated mother and we will miss her terribly.
At Pearl's request there will be no service but donations can be made to the Jewish Federation March of the Living.

We are sorry to hear of Pearl's passing but what an amazing woman she was - 100 years lived to the fullest. We have many wonderful memories of spending time with Pearl and her children, Sharon and Daryl and their families. Years don't erase those good times; we still cherish them. Rest in peace Pearl! We are all so very blessed to have my grandma in our lives as long as we did. It's not very often that we have so many generations at a family gathering, and I cherish the ones we had, and will hold onto many special memories. My grandma taught me how to knit, bake bread, can pickles and jam, make dough and homemade pies, pick vegetables out of her garden to eat while we would swing in the backyard and chat. She taught me every card game I know, and I still have never been able to beat her! Grandma had a big heart, and I believe it was full, as she lived such a full life. As I have said before, 100 years on this earth wasn't enough for such an amazing person, we deserved to have her longer, but also, appreciate the days we got. You are missed, and your memory will live on for many more generations of Silvers, Brodsky's and Hooles. Love you Grandma xo - Posted by: Sara (Granddaughter) on: Mar 28, 2020
