ADELE LYTLE

Adele Lytle was born on December 3, 1930, and died on April 7, 2020, at the age of 89.
Adele was the matriarch of our family, a loving mother to three and grandmother of five. She was the oldest of three, and started her role as a caregiver and role model at an early age, taking care of her baby sister Eleanor when she was just 11 years old.
Adele attended the University of Manitoba and completed her dietetics training in Minneapolis. She instilled a love of good food and a belief in the healing powers of a good hot meal in all of her children and grandchildren.
Adele loved to read. From the time she was old enough to go to the library she would read as much as she could get her hands on, sometimes reading in secret as her mother did not approve of so much time spent 'idle'. She belonged to book clubs for many years and those friendships were some of her closest.
Hudson Lytle was her husband and the love of her life. They had a role model marriage - true partners in all aspects of their lives. They had many wonderful travels, good friends, good music and good wine. When he died in 1995, she healed from the devastating loss by spending time with her family and friends, taking particular pleasure in her grandchildren, then ages one to nine.
Adele was a walker! When her vision loss prevented her from driving, she walked for groceries and daily errands, charging out of the house wearing a backpack. She delighted in the small pleasures of the outdoors - the scent of flowers, the bright green of leaves, the sound of birdsong.
Adele is predeceased by her husband Hudson and her brother Art. She is survived and was cherished by her sister Eleanor; her children, Linda (Peter Bishop), Greg (Dana Boctor), Lorraine Rohs (Chuck); and her grandchildren, Meg Emslie (Chris), Alex Bishop (Kelsey), Patty Rohs (Ross Holley), Michael Rohs, and Jessalyn Rohs (Michael Stensby). She was also loved by her nieces and nephews, Bradley Kelm, Garry Kelm, Diana Meister, Diane Overton, Robert Steele, Debbie Lytle, Sandy Lytle, Hudson Lytle and Roland Lytle.
We would like to thank the staff and residents at United at Fish Creek for their caring and support. We would also like to thank the staff at Dulcina Hospice for their compassionate care in the last days of her life.
A memorial will be arranged at some point in the future when gathering is deemed safe.
